Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Good morning and welcome home to our travelers.... thanks for checking in to those who are home. Maureen should be home today, and Viny, on Tuesday...... it so good to hear from those who arrived home safely. Maybe we'll hear from Shirley, Marti and Carolyn, some time today after they get a little rest from a late night arrival.....
Just wanted to open us so we don't get a double and for anyone wanting to post.... it will be nice to have everyone back on the BB..... will be back a little later.
God bless,
Jo Ann
Good morning everyone.
Thanks for opening us up Jo Ann. I was going to respond earlier but had to take L. to school and then ran to Walmart. It's really smokey here today. There won't be much relief from these fires until it rains.
I am glad to hear the travelers got out ok with no more delays but so sorry to hear about Donna's niece. So many of us having issues right now. Let's hope we are all on the mend in a few weeks and can get back to normal........whatever that is .
Maureen, do you realize you forgot to dig any peony bulbs ? That's the one thing I wanted you to do. Oh well, now you have an excuse to come back here.
I have no words to express how much I appreciated each of you and how blessed Paul and I feel to have you in our lives. There was not nearly enough time to do all we wanted and visit each other but we did make the most of the time we had together. I am sorry the others couldn't come but hope someday they can. Just as I hope that those who were here liked it enough to want to come back and see some more of our country.
Jo Lynn, our DS came over yesterday and I sent some of the pickled things home with him. He loves that stuff and was so happy to have it. So thanks again to that great FIL of yours, I believe you said his name is Elmer. He must be quite a guy. I'd like to see a picture of him. Maybe you can email one to me.
Well, I guess I'll go bake something. I bought donuts for DH this morning. You know he loves his sweets and I have to admit, I've been spoiling him. I put dinner in the crockpot this morning. It's a good thing he doesn't have a weight problem.
I'll be back later. We are going to get his blood checked a bit later.
Barb
Good Morning from the sunny warm south. We make it home after 12AM last night, I think Carolyn & Shirley hit the bed without stopping, I still had the water turned off waiting for the plummer who thankfully was here very early, was not his problem, the guy who had checked my refrigerator late on Friday before we left apparently broke the line to the icemaker, just happy we saw the water before we left here. Hopefully some of that problem will be solved today the remaining this week.Flight was good, just tiring but what a wonderful time we all had, Barb and Paul were the perfect Host/Hostess and we had "tons" of food with the help of JoLynn and her sisters and contribution from Sue & Jack. I think we all enjoyed the fellowship and visit so much.. Thanks Barb, Paul, JoLynn, Linda, Cheryl, Sue & Jack for all you did to make this a wonderful trip. Now to get settled down to make next week's trip, washer/dryer is going. so some of these things will go right back in the suitcases for next week.
Had some bad news when I checked her this morning. My nephew/and DW lost their baby last week, was some problems, they were checking closely because of her age, not downs but other problems, they are devasted and so are we, it's not easy when you are nearly 40 to plan your first baby. Also, I have a neighbor who leases large machinery to do work in his yard, Thursday one of the large tractor turned over on his check, he is still a live but touch and go and if he recovers, long recovery, plus he's my age or a couple years older and has worked in his yard with leased tractors for several years now, but we were always concerned with the rolling hills he uses the tractor. Please remember him and his family. To all of you who traveled with us, thanks for being such good travelers, what a memorable time we all had, I know all are tired, I just can't stop this week with all I have going on to be ready to leave out again on Tuesday, See foot doctor at noon tomorrow and hopefully no damage done and Shirley and I can get out a bit, don't want her to get bored sitting around here, but know she too is tired. Carolyn left early and drove over to here DD's house, I think she had decided to drive back to TN. Friday so this will give her a few days with her family
Ok, I'll leave this open if Shirley wants to post.
Good morning... Its sunny and nice here today. We still have a lot of smoke in the air. In fact, I had hung my nightie outside on the line the other day and last night I kept waking up smelling smoke.... it was from my nightie.
Its good to hear from the travelers that they have made it home. I’m sure they must all be tired.
What did you all do in Seattle? Did you take the harbor tour? Space Needle? Pike’s Place Market?
My sisters couldn’t believe that I could meet such nice people on the internet. They thought all of you were so nice and friendly. You all just made them feel so welcome. And Verna’s friend, Donna! What a hoot she is. So easy to be around and includes everyone. I hope she will join us on our daily posts.
Barb ~ Yes, my dfil’s name is Elmer. I’m glad you all are enjoying his pickled stuff. Have you or Paul tried the Cougar Gold Cheese, yet? I, too, want to add my thanks to the two of you for being such good hosts.
Jo Ann ~ I am enjoying your fall pictures that you have been posting lately. Thank you. How did your dm’s move go today? Is she getting settled back in at Elmcroft? Did Tom stop by for homemade soup last night? How is the new house? Is it closer to you?
I’m hoping that our next Healthy Choices get together can be somewhere near where Jo Ann lives so that she (and Frank) can join us, too. Wouldn’t that be fun!
I sure hope Viny’s Pat is okay after all the traveling they have been doing. I, too, wonder how many miles they put on their car.
Sue ~ Have you had a chance to see the girls, yet? If so, have they changed much since you’ve been gone? How do they like their new house?
Maureen ~ It sounds like you had a nice visit with your db. How is your garden doing?
Marti ~ I’m sorry to hear about your water leak. It’s a good thing you caught it before you left. How long will Shirley stay with you? I hope your foot checks out okay. I feel bad that I didn’t get any one-on-one time with you; I hope you don’t feel like I was ignoring you because I certainly wasn’t!!! I shall keep your family and your friend in my prayers.
Shirley ~ Again, thank you for riding home from the restaurant with me that night. Those darn sisters of mine..... Even after all of these years, they still don’t like to babysit me! LOL
Carolyn ~ Did you get to hook up with your relatives and/or friends in the Seattle area? I know you were looking forward to that.
Okay, I better get back to work. I’ll check back later. Until then....
Jo Lynn
Good afternoon. I have been busy today already. I made a run to WalMart to buy new pot for my cactus. It fell over on the patio this summer and the clay pot is cracked. Also got some milk. Then went to the Salvation Army Family store for some footed jammies for the girls. We went to see them last night and DD mentioned they have outgrown most of theirs. One only cost 26 cents! Also got them 4 pair of jeans for 1.56 each. I washed them and will take them over tomorrow. She asked if I could come on Wednesday too this week as they haven't decided on a day care yet but will probably be stuck with Kinder Care because most of the others won't do one day a week.
Glad everyone got back all right. It was so great to see everyone. I made mixed berry pie filling with the berries Barb gave me and have 4 pies in the freezer and 2 berry cobblers in the oven. I also have enough juice to make a double recipe of jelly. I will give DD some of the fresh plums too.
JoLynn, we had to wait til we got to Nebraska before the smoke was out of the air. DH really enjoyed those pickled beets.
JoAnn, beautiful picture today. It is so cool it really seems like fall but will be 76-78 tomorrow.
I'd better sign off, this laptop is giving us fits today. Internet so slow, websites not responding and it closes out without warning. I ran aq scan and it didn't show anything but I hope we didn't pick up a bug on the trip.
Have a good day, Sue
Jo Lynn, I haven't opened the canned cheese. I thought I'd save it until the kids are here to help eat it and I wanted them to see the can. Also, I'm supposed to stay away from milk products right now. We're using up what Sue brought. DH had grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch.
Marti, you are wearing me out. I don't know how you do it. I learned one thing for sure. I couldn't keep up with you. I have to tell the others who weren't here. I was trying to walk down the hall with Marti and I couldn't keep up with her, even with that bad foot. She's a whirlwind !
Sue, bet you were glad to see the babies. We have a real nice Sal. Army store in the Portland area. It's even got a snack bar and new things in it.
I have a pan of zucchini bars in the oven right now so I'd better go check on them.
Which reminds me, I was buttoning L.'s jeans this morning and I told him he was getting fat. Boy, did I get told, again. You don't say that people are fat. So Paul told him he was a "Fat Cat" and explained that to him. Now he decided Fat Cat is his word for today. But he sure won't let you get away with saying what he thinks is a bad word.
