    Good morning

Rebecca I agree with the elder care, seems they sometime think they are near the end of their lives and don't seem to care. His dr seems to really like him, just don't know why he doesn't get back. The 2 pills, he said I am going to find out why they gave these to you. Nothing yet, I think he is more interested in being in the military than a dr. Going to miss you while you are gone, but know it will be so wonderful to see your parents.

Going to WW this morning and do some other things while I am out.

Natasha has it all come together? Have fun.

    Good Morning Sweet Ladies!

Debi, glad you had time to pop by- is everything going ok for you? (((Hugs)))

Dusta, now that is really rediculous about the Dr. taking him off his med to prevent congestive heart failure- big boo boo there. Hopefully, they will start it back up soon. You are Mel's spokesperson- so you can get 'er done I know. I got tickled about Mel turning the mattress- that is so funny. The mattress is heavy, why not just change the sheets? LOL

Rebecca, oh no, we are going to really miss you(and Natasha and Sherry)....you girls need to line up your vacations at different times from now on!!!! Wink It may get really lonely around here..... sigh.Sounds like you have had a good week so far- woo hoo on the good haircuts! I need a trim- but am wondering how I can curb her from cutting to much- she cut my back way to close last time- no more- I am going to make sure she doesn't get scissor happy on the back again! LOL

Dawn, did you have a fun B'day? Hope so!

Jill, I need to get to Cato's soon. LOL I haven't been in ages! Wondering if they have any cute summer clothing. I was looking at my wardrobe the other day and I am in a rut big time. LOL

Natasha, are you all set to leave on vacation? How soon now- tomorrow?

Waves and Hugs to everyone! Off for another cup of coffee!

Happy Belated Birthday Dawn!!!  Sorry I am late and your card too.  Lost track of time.  Hope you had a fabulous day!

Natasha, Rebecca, & Sherry - Wishing you a terrific time on your trips!  We will truly miss you but looking forward to your detailed trip once your return!

Muril - So happy the shower went well!  I'm sure you will get enough pictures to keep Baby Girl #2 photogenic!

Dusta - Glad you are there to keep watch over Mel!  I know it's frustrating dealing with the doctor but it's for his own good!

Candy - Are you keeping up with your deadlines?

Jill - Yeah on your weightloss!  Your workouts and healthy eatting are paying off!

Yesterday morning I saw my Dr. who then ordered a sonogram.  After the sonogram they said it would be 2-3 days before I hear anything so it must not be serious.  I have pain and nausea pills incase something returns.  I'm going back to my regular routine.

Washing clothes and packing today.  In the morning I have bloodwork and then another foot Dr appt in KC in the afternoon.  I will hang out Thursday!!!  I might try to visit my cousin and meet Charlie.  Friday my DNiece returns from visiting her BF.  We will be going through closets and shelves like a whirlwind to get her packed for Philidelphia.  Sunday is Country Stampede in Manhattan with 2 HS friends and one husband.  We will see Sweethearts of the Rodeo, John Michael Montgomery, and The Band Perry.  Monday morning we will do a workout session and after lunch head back to KC.  Tuesday morning I will take DSis and DN to the KC airport before I head back home.

Sorry I missed your birthday Dawn. Hope it was a good one!

Have a good vacation Natasha and everybody else who is going.

Nasty day at hospital yesterday. Today I am off. Hoping they are way overstaffed for tomorrow and I can talk them into another day off. They were going to float 7 RNs today...or if not enough needs on other floors put some on call.

Gotta get hair cut, run to bank and post office and store and do a couple loads of laundry and won't do much otherwise.

Dusta, what the heck is that doctor thinking? Does Mel have a history of afib do you know. I'm betting that heart rhythm one was to treat afib so he won't have as much of a chance of throwing blood clots....and it sounds like the one for congestive heart failure was needed. By the way, Gregg had that and was hospitalized multiple times for it the last couple of years and believe me, if it gets to where he has a hard enough time breathing he will go! Gregg would always try to put it off as long as possible as he knew he would be in there a week while they took the fluid off. Waving hi at everybody. Going to have a cup of coffee now.

I was sorry I looked at the scales after the disastrous week last week. That was probably a mistake :-(. But I'm still lower than I was. Guess it will be salad and protein all day. And maybe a little bit of fruit.

    Hello everyone!

Kris sometimes the sonagram doesn't pick anything up on the gallbladder if you don't actually have stones...if it comes back clear, I would have further testing done...thats what they done to me...had a hydro scan and it showed that my gallbladder just wasn't functioning properly...didn't have any stones. So far I have just stayed away from any greasy foods (you will be able to know what will make you sick) and havn't had to have my gallbladder out yet! They said I would have to eventually, but I am staying away from surgery as long as I can! lol Hope they can figure out right away what is wrong. Also you might have your colon checked..they have the same symptoms..nausea/pain. ((hugs))

Well went and done 30 min. this morning. Now trying to figure out my calorie intake..so far I have over 1500 calories yet to eat..they have me eating over 2000 to start off with and then as I lose weight they will reavaluate the calories.

Muril CATO had some really cute things last time I was there..got several things on clearance! :)

Hope everyone is doing well! It is HOT here with no relief in sight...:( Everyone that is traveling on vacation stay safe and cool! :)

Thank you ladies for all your helpful hints on my stomach pains.  I'm thinking that rich dairy may be an issue.  It happened after a small bowl of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and a key lime greek yogurt.

The car is packed.  After my blood work I'm headed to KC.  Charlotte called at 5:30 this morning asking me to show up at her school to help switch her to a new classroom.  I will then report to my second session for my foot doctor.

Wishing all fantastic trips and a fabulous weekend!

    Happy Wednesday Healthy Beauties!

Kris, Hope they figure out what is causing your discomfort.

Jill, as long as you feel right about not getting surgery- that's what's right for you. DH's kidneys stopped working while he had gall bladder problems(for a couple of days- then miraculously started working again)- he had a stone that blocked something- very scary. We didn't know what was going on. And talk about pain- he had an attack at the hospital while a stone was going from here to there in his body and he looked like he was in shock. They said it was nothing to worry about - but I thought he was dying. Needless to say -after that attack- they did get the ball rolling and he was set up for a procedure to remove the stone that was blocking something- later on he had the surgery. He does well eating most foods now but he eats fairly healthy anyway. He eats small portions and he doesn't eat a lot of fat anyway- most of his fat comes from his pntbutter- he has it every day for lunch. He is a creature of habit. LOL  My niece Chrissi- had to have her gall bladder removed as well. She was having symptoms like she was having a heart attack- very scary.  Not all the symptoms but some. The gall bladder is a strange little thing when it gets aggravated- affects people differently. She had her problems after losing a lot of wt. quickly-sometimes it throws the gall bladder into a tail spin.

Okay, off for B'fast- then exercise. Macie Girl is home with her Mom and Dad this week- they are taking vacation. We may drive to the lake and have lunch with them tomorrow.

    Morning!!

Sorry I've been out of the loop, it's been a full week :-)

Kris - have a safe trip and I hope you feel better ((((hugs))) I have to be careful how much rich dairy I eat too, the rich stuff can be hard on my stomach.

Jill - good job on the workouts, you're doing so well :-) It's hot here too, and the humidity is oppressive. Our "Indian Spring" is over, no more comfortable summer weather for us LOL!!!

Muril - how fun for r&c, I love having vacations at home. I like to travel, but it's fun to have a few days to do local things, to relax and not have to "be" anywhere.

Dusta - how is mel doing?

Natasha & rebecca - hope ya'll have a safe trip!!! Have fun :-)

Candy - how are things with you? Are you still doing book PR or are you relaxing?

Debi - how are things going? how is the NH crew?

Sherry - are you off today or on call? Would be nice if you could get the extra day off :-)

    Hi everyone!!!

Hot & humid here, I think all the comfortable summer weather is done LOL!!!  Saturday is going to be really hot, next year I think we'll have to do something different... LOL!!!

today should be quiet around here - a lot of the office is on vacation the rest of the week. I'm off friday - have a service tech coming to fix the refrigerator. I'm glad we got the extended warranty - we got the fridge 14months ago and there is a problem with the freezer & water line. I have no idea what this kind of thing costs, I like that I don't have to worry about it LOL!!!!

hope everyone has a great day!!!

    morning

Muril itwasn't Mel that rotates the mattres, Clyde does that. Mel is not strong enough to do much, can't see him trying to rotate a king size.  Been doing anything this week since Macie is home? How is Clay?

Dawn, Mel is doing well. He says he feels really good. I just wish the swelling would go down more in his feet and ankles, he us taking 2 lasix a day and because of his kidneys that is the most he can take. And he is eating again, gained 3 pounds. Yea! He is still bony.

You know that comedian that does "here's your sign?" I went to pick up denture cleaner for Mel and told her what I wanted and she ask if I was buying it for one of their customers. Told her his name and she said 'is he still alive?" Here's your sign, no he's dead but I am keeping his dentures clean. lol

    Rebecca leaving tomorrow?

    Computer started acting crazy.

Sherry I don't know what ifeb is, I think that is what you ask me. I know his heart skips a beat and he is on something for that, a seizure med, but doesn't have seizures. His heart dr from many years ago read that this med helped with it.

We are having cheese/tomato sandwiches this morning, have been getting a few tomatoes. Really good when they don't get picked until they are red.

    morning!

yup,Dusta, we leave tomorrow, so that means today is gonna be a nightmare of trying to get stuff done ...

that's really nice of you keeping Mel's dentures cleaned even after he's dead ... people are soooooooooo clueless sometimes aren't they?  at least you can laugh about it, I feel like I'm losing my patience with dumb people ... and there are so many of them ....

the other day I was at walmart nad the check out lady ... omw .... everything I bought she commented on, she would stop and look at it and then either say something about it or ask me was it good or whatever, and I was like OMW I'm never gonna get outta here ... and then the man who was behind me oin line put his cart behind him and was standing right up next to me while I was trying to enter my debit card code nad that really bothered me, so I just looked at him and said, would you mind backing up a little til I"m finished?  and he got all fussy ... seriously?  I think I need a sign that says "cranky woman, speak at your own risk!"

    Hello everyone!

Rebecca that would be really irritating!

Natasha hope your having a good time!

Dawn...OMW it is soooo hot here! Suppossed to get a little rain tomorrow, but still going to be in the 90's. :( I want my 70 degree weather back!!

Dusta its good that Mel is gaining weight from eating...I just hope that the weight gain isn't the fluid..??? My gpa had to weigh every morning and if he was up any at all it was usually fluid.

Muril yes the gallbladder can do a lot of harm! it affected my colon the worse...

Kris hope your test come back and they can figure out what is going on! Hope you have a good time!

Something I forgot to tell you all....I am sure most of you know the show American Pickers?? anyway they have a store in Nashville and they have called and asked dh's group to come play at their store! The bass player in the group is personal friends with 'Mike'! I thought that was really neat! I hope they will be there that day...maybe get a picture with them!

Dh's group has gotten a lot more shows booked lately...people are starting to recognize the name now! :)

    Hope everyone is doing well!

    Hi Girls!

Kris, I so enjoyed our chat today- thanks so much for calling on your way to help Charlotte change out her classroom. I love talking with you girls. I am as close or closer to you all as I am my sisters!

Dusta, we have been just doing the same ole' same ole' this week and have missed Macie girl. LOL Looking forward to lunch with them tomorrow. Clay is doing well. I talked to him for a bit today. He is getting pretty good tips on some days and I told him to save for the days that he didn't get many tips. He got his eyes examined and ordered contacts so he could be more comfortable on the beach(instead of glasses) - anyway he had to have them delivered general delivery and they haven't called him yet. I think this will be a good growing up experience for him.

Rebecca, have a marvelous time on your get away- give your Mom a big ole' hug from us HL girls! LOL at telling the man you needed some space- love it! I need to have more boundaries like that. Speaking of which- I am reading Boundaries. I am such an easy going creature and I do need to set some boundaries in my life. DH has too many boundaries (just in my opinion of course, lol) and I am the one that tries to compensate for his extra boundaries. LOL

Jill, my sister's DH had trouble with his digestive system before he had his gall bladder removed- his colon wasn't working. :(   I tell you- it may be a small organ but it sure can wreck havoc when it gets out of whack:( Glad you are doing well with a special diet.

Dawn, hope things calm down at work soon- don't they know we need our Dawn fix every day. :) Yes, I think a week at home is nice for R&C- they were originally going to the beach with Crystal's Mom and Dad but realized that being 9 mos. pregnant was not a good time to take such a trip. LOL Hopefully, next year we can do something neat as a family.

Have a lovely evening Healthy Beauties!

  • Re: H L Topic of Week of June 16-22~The Truth about Confusing Foods~

Hello everybody. Muril, it was just a trim. I like this style because it is easy to take care of look and looks better than a lot of them on me. Everybody always wants to cut my hair in a bob and I just hate bobs. Ugh. This is sort of like a shag, has a lot of layers in it.

Dusta, ROFL at lady thinking you were cleaning Mel's teeth after he was dead.

I meant to say afib, not ifib. It is a short name for atrial fibrillation. it is a heart rhythm where the top chambers of the heart quiver instead of beat properly, has an irregular heart rate and causes a tendency to throw blood clots. You might be talking about the med Dilantin. It is usually for seizures, but my dad was on it for his heart. Glad he gained a little wait. Rebecca, have a great time on your vacation.

Dawn, I was able to get today off...so I went to famous footwear and got another pair of sandals and another pair of tennis shoes, went to Sally's and got three new shades of nail polish and a new pair of earrings, and then to Walmart to get a couple things and then came home. feels over 110 out there. Going to do one load of laundry probably and swim. Will make that machaca stuff for dinner and might premake some hamburgers to grill for tomorrow night to finish off the rest of the potato salad. should clean the frig out but not sure if I will get to it. Now if they would just put me on call for tomorrow, but I'm expecting to be floated. I am totally in vacation mode now. Just trying to get through tomorrow. I guess you could say was shopping therapy and now I am going to do swimming therapy and relaxing therapy. Yesterday my brother and his family went to a mall in Honolulu that had 290 stores in it (LOL).
