Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Called Muril and she is without power as is a lot of VA. They are safe and no damage to house, just no power. So just talk about anything you want to this week. I will be back later, think Mel is ready to eat.
Hugs
Oh no! Hope Muril's power comes back on quick! that's frustrating for sure! Well, I really don't have anything elnightening to say .. doing lots of laundry today, don't be jealous now!
Woke up way too early but had a nice quiet time with my coffee cup this morning.
Dusta, hope Mel is feeling better and better, he sure has had enough lately, huh? Good for you getting out on the bike.
Debi, I bet your hair does feel different. Mine is pretty short and even when I get a trim I can feel the difference when I wash it. Love the easiness of short though ... bet it feels good to feel the breeze on your neck! When my hair was long always wore it up anyway ... hope your little aunt has calmed down, poor thing, got her self all worked up.
Have fun today natasha, loving on a baby, should be fun! Jill, enjoy your company!
Okay, I should get at something around here ...
My "Babies" are growing up!!!!
Good morning Dusta & Rebecca - so sorry that Muril is without power. yuck.We got up and got in a long walk - and watered some things around the house.Found a HUMONGUS!!!!! snake in my flower bed - was just about to pull a weed and there he was - his mouth was full of Frog -so he couldn't bite me ! Poor frog. :(the dumb big male dog was standing right by me - looking at it too. Like "Yeah, wow look at that"!Dumb dog.I ran and got dh - and he killed the scarey snake. LOLIt was really really big - - - it's mouth kept snapping after dh chopped it off.The frog croaked (as in noise) poor thing - - - but I know he's going to really croak - cause he was bit and bloody. :(It was a poisonus snake too. :o !!!maybe the dog is not so dumb, maybe he knew better than to mess with it.......Rebecca - it does feel good to have the shorter hair. My hair was really hot when it was long.Sort of like a small blanket on my back all of the time.I wore it up in a Pony tail most of the time anyway - so I really don't look much different I guess.Guess I'll toost a long for now.Dusta - thanks for starting our post today - - - - Waving to everyone !
Debi
Today is the shower! So Im up and getting ready to head out the door. Wanted to say hello to you girls though!Dusta, thats for the update and getting us started!Muril, hope the power comes back on soon. Must be horrible with temps what they are! Rebecca, Im holding off on my coffee til I get to Centralia/Chehalis. It runs right through me and I dont wanna make a bathroom stop. Wish I had a cup with you! Debi, my gosh, how scary! Glad your hubby took care of it. Sad for the frog. I went ahead and trimmed my side swept bangs this morning, and decided to just pull em forward for the day. First time Ive had real bangs since like... 7th grade LOLOff I go! Have a fabulous day!
Well, I finally have time to breather, so decided to pop in for a moment to say hi. Had a great time in Utah, and got lots of work done. Also took some pretty cool hikes and got to do some rock climbing. We did one easy climb and 2 challenging ones and just rocked it. We feel so good about ourselves now that we’re going to stop in Yosemite and give a granite face that gave us a run for our money last year. And Charles asked me to climb lead – woohoo!!
OK, haven’t read all of the last week or so so I’ll just kind of say what I remember.
Rebecca: Sorry those girls scouts are so expensive, but look at it this way, if you average the $9 out for s’mores over all the girls, the price really isn’t that bad!
Sherry: Hope you’re having a good time in hawaii. I know you won’t read this, but still hope you have lots of fun!
Kris: Busy as usual girl!
Jill: Good news about the work outs and the weight loss. Keep up the good work!!
Natasha: Wow, 1 day in DC? We spend about 5 days there and that was still at a press trip pace. So much to see and do. Hope you enjoy your new bed. Really…4 years for your bed? Ours is 15 years old and still in good shape. I’m wanting it to wear out because we will be replacing it with one of the tempurpedic sleep number deals. Love them – tried them out a number of times. Puts the memory foam to shame.
Muril: Hope you get your power back soon, That sounds like quite a storm.
Dusta: Sorry Mel is upset about the Supreme Court decision on healthcare. I think it will be a good thing in the long run, but this transistion time will be kind of a mess. Sure it’s probably a tax, but IMHO we are taxed on things less important than health care.
Debi: Glad you like your shorter hair. I’m due for a cut when I get home. I had a growth spurt on the road and I had to trim my bangs with fingernail clippers. Not as bad as it sounds – looks pretty good.
Waving to Dawn and anyone else I missed. OK, off to tackle that granite face!!

Canada has HC and some of the people come to the states to have surgeries because they put it off for months. Going to happen to us too? Probably and some things will not be approved. They keep saying there is already a shortage of doctors and when the millions are added, where will they get care. Half Americans don't pay taxes how are they going to get them to pay there tax/pently? Are those of us that pay our taxes and insurance payments going to see our premiums go so high we have to do without something? Just questions I ask myself.
Just heard on tv that there are more people without power than have it and there are water shortages because they are saving water in case they have fires. Just said the temps are higher in DC now than since the 1930's. They didn't have ac then either, but guess they were use to it.
Wow. Maybe it's the heat that has zapped my energy!
Thursday night I went to bed at 6:30 pm and didn't get up until 7 am!
Yesterday I did some paper/computer work in the early am. At 9:30 am I went for my HIDA Scan for the gallbladder. They took 65 pictures but my gallbladder wasn't cooperating. After an hour & 15 minutes they sat me in the hallway for 30 minutes and it still didn't show well. They asked me to keep from eatting, but drink lots of water and come back in two hours. They took a few more pictures, but could not complete the 2nd phase of the exam. The technician asked me to set up an appointment with my doctor. I called the nurses and they won't give me an appointment until the report come in. I'm at a stand still again. After a terrible lunch, I came home and slept for 2 hours again!
I'm not worried or concerned about me. My calendar is getting busy!!! Tuesday I have another foot doctor appointment in KC. Wednesday is the 4th of July! The following Tuesday, July 11th DM, DSis, & I leave for Philadelphia until the Tuesday the 17th. DF, DM, DSis and I then leave Saturday 21st thru Thursday 26 for Wisconsin. Monday 30th - Aug.4th DSis, DBro & I will be in Colorado. Friday, Aug 10 is school meetings and the kiddos come in full swing Tuesday 14th.
This morning I helped with a project at the hanger, mowed our lawn, and pulles/cut more weeds on the beach. After a 1 1/2 hour nap and shower I am getting ready to see the play "9 to 5" in Wichita with a girlfriend tonight. It will be a late night.
Reading everyone's posts!
Glad Natasha and Rebecca had great trips but thrilled you are back to HL board!!!
Debi - I bet you look sexy in your new hairdo and flashy car! I would have screamed and jumped with the snake!!!
Muril - Sorry you are out of power! Hoping you can find a cool place to be under the A/C!
Dusta - Thank you for starting us off! I figured Muril was out yardsaling!
Candy - LOVE your spirit and glad you "Rocked It" with rock climbing!
Jill - Hope you are relaxing and enjoying your company this weekend!
Dawn - I would squeel at a mouse!!! Can't wait to see your new landscaping!
Sherry - Missing you but glad you are having a wonderful time with family in Hawaii!
Kris
Good morning.
Not much not going on here still hot. Mel still sick for about 4 hours after he takes the new medicine. I think giving a 94 yom 3 new meds at one time is not good.
Kris sounds like your summer is good, except for the health problem. Hope you haven't had any problems lately.
Debi when we lived in the country a small copperhead was in the kitchen. DH and son made the biggest mess pulling things out to find it. They do creap me out no matter what kind they are.
Didn't go to the commissary yesterday and have to go today. Company coming Wednesday so have things to do. Jackie is coming Monday, hope we can keep it semi clean before they get here. lol I have cleaned the table out here several times and it gets junked up again with in seems like minutes.
Didn't call Muril this morning, didn't know it she has a way to charge her phone. Hope she gets power back soon. On the news they said it would probably be a few days.
hugs
Morning! Up earlier than usual again... stupid East Coast time. Sean is having trouble too with it.Candy, yep only the one day in DC. Its all we had time for. We saw a ton, but Id have loved to spend a week there :) Great job on your climbs :) Sounds fun too! Yep, only 4 yrs for our bed. The pillow top broke down within 2 years. And it was an expensive fancy mattress too. Grr.Dusta, I think that the difference between Canada and us is that in Canada, I believe everyone has the same healthcare from the govt... thats how they can make people wait, etc. Here, we will still have our own personal insurance. So I cant see the govt forcing insurance companies to make us wait. Hopefully, at least. How miserable for all of those without power in this heat. Id set up a pool and just stay in that. Hope that Mel gets better. Being sick is no fun every day... Kris, sorry about the mess with your gallbladder. You sure are busy, enjoy it!I had such a nice day with family at the shower yesterday! My sis and I did most of the set up. Maddie is fussy and not wanting to be held due to teething, so I only held her once. Enough time for her to projectile vomit all over my shirt haha. Love spending time with my sister though. And they WILL be moving up here in about a month, so Im excited about that! Laci did "okay" during her shower. She doesnt know how to show appreciation or thanks very well... Ah well, shes a kid. She is due July 21st.Sean and I spoke, and I will be skipping my depo shot on July 22nd, so itll be my first miss in like 9 years or so. Gonna get started on this period of getting my body back to normal. Its a huge step, but Im excited.First day back to work today, and Im training 2 people (my first day back, their first day ever). Eck, I dont think itll be a very good day. Breakfast - 1 cup homemade granola, coffeeLunch - Egg Salad and Chicken Salad tea sandwiches leftover from the showerDinner - Leftover sloppy joes
Sherry, Im so glad you had a great time. your post reminds me of my time there too :) We buy our rice here in 50lb bags :) Hehe. Sounds like so much fun you had there. Whenever weve gone to Hawaii, we are so going nonstop weve never had the time to just lay on the beach and enjoy. Im glad youre back!
MURIL Report!!! - She called around 1:20 pm CTZ. She said they are doing well and sounded energetic. Her area isn't suppose to get power until Saturday. They are getting the hospitals, NH's, and grocery stores up first though. Muril said their deep freeze is thawing so they are sharing their meat with people who have electricity to enjoy a meal. They are keeping a little ice chest for milk, eggs, etc. Yesterday they ran out of ice, but Kroger had just restocked so they are doing well. They are staying one night at a motel and the next at the house if it's not to bad to help protect their area. She said she is getting a lot of reading done!!! LOL! Their basement is around ten degrees cooler so she sets out her yoga mat and enjoys a good book.
Her summer girls' package has been sent so look at your doorsteps for anticipation!!!
"9 to 5" was really cute! They flashed Dolly Parton on a screen as the narator and the characters did a great job! We got home around 1 am. I slept in till 7 am.
I did some more paper work and prepared bills for the mail. DF needed help with his project so I helped for more than a good hour. I purchased new cosmetic bags for my trips. Really couldn't find exactly what I wanted, but they will work. Rearranged my suitecase a little. After lunch I went for a nap, again. I have been so tired lately. Muril called at the beginning of my nap so sorry it took me so long to type her report. Trying to make hit and miss menus upon DM's request for when I am here until school starts.
We had a RAIN SHOWER!!!! Thank you God!! Not much, but right now any little rain helps!
Kris thank you for the update about Muril! I was wondering how she was doing!
Sorry you are having problems still...the hydo scan is where they figured out that my gallbladder was malfunctuing, then they done some other kind of body scan (slid my body into a machine) and that was where they figured out that I had colitis also. Hope they can figure out what is going on soon! ((HUGS)) I know what you are dealing with!
Candy sounds like you are having great time! When is it that you are doing your tour in Indiana?
Debi YIKES on the snake!! I am not scared of just regular black/garden snakes, but if its a kind i don't know recognize then yeah I freak out! lol
We had a good time this weekend, next weekend we will be traveling to southeastern Indiana. The band has a show at a festival. Not sure if I will have Riley this next week or not...waiting to hear from her mom...her dad is back home for a couple months. so confusing...
Natasha I am excited for you! Hope that everything goes well for you!
Dusta thanks for getting us started this week!
Rebecca glad you had a good vacation and are back home safe and sound! :)
Yee Haa!
WE HAVE OUR POWER!!!!! Very surprised yesterday to return home from K&L's from supper- we didn't get back until 8ish because we went by a store for bottled water(We now have to boil our water)...anyhow, drove up the street and saw lights on neigbors houses- what a nice feeling.
We found out we needed to boil our water at K&L's. DH's sister Attie called- she had seen something about it- we got Keith to google and yes, most of our area needs to boil water now. So, I am putting 2 and 2 together and realizing that is why we lucked out(thank God) and have our power- must have been connected to the whatever happened to the water pumping station and they needed to fix that stat.
I have heard that other states are coming to VA as well to help restore power. Many are a lot worse off than us- damage to vehichles and homes and such- we are really blessed.
Will chat more later- off to pick up baby girl...hugs!!!!
It's better to look back on life and say: "I can't believe I did that." than to look back and say: "I wish I did that."
Muril, so glad you got your power back! What a nightmare people are having back there. Hoping that means my other friends in VA who have been without power are going to get power back soon.
working today so won't be on all that much...and what I am on will be tonight if I can get around to it.
Didn't make the huli huli chicken last night. Has a long marinading time so will start marinading it in the morning and will try to grill it tomorrow night. Going to have some long grain and wild rice and some pineapple slices with it I think. Hope it is ok. It's basically a Hawaiian style barbecue sauce (has brown sugar, catsup, soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder, and supposed to have chicken broth or sherry but a very small amount so I omitted) and if I like it, will see how it is with low sugar catsup. I cut the amount in half because not making as much chicken for it. It was from June/July TOH magazine.
