Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Natasha, good you checked your BP - I was wondering how they thought you would jjust be able to stop taking meds for it, but you know ... if you lose even 10% of your weight and exercise daily you will be able to lower it ... just sayin, that's what my doc told me and it's working.
Katie went home with the leader and her daughter that were at the donation thing - first they dropped off the stuff - and now the girls are gonna do a little sprinkler jumping ... I'm supposed to be cleaning but I'm pretty much watching Olympics ... guess I'm too old to compete now huh? oh well! hahahaha those athletes just fascinate me.
okay, maybe I will do some laundry folding or something ...
My "Babies" are growing up!!!!
Hi Girls!
Great talking with you Dusta- after we played phone tag a bit that is. LOL I ended up getting 10 oat/blueberry pancakes from Sherry's recipe. We are having LC meals for supper and DH wants two pancakes for dessert- and I am going to taste test one of them after my meal too. LOL So, I have 7 of them frozen already for Macie girl- they look and smell wonderful. Sorry Mel is still sleeping a lot- must be the meds.
Waving to Sherry, Natasha, Debi, Rebecca and Candy! Natasha, your recipe on fb for the pork roast looks yummy. Rebecca, I have been doing laundry off and on all day.... now I am in my pjs. LOL
Hey, for all concerned- although most of you probably don't have the problemo- since you aren't that old- anyway, I have some age spots(on my arms and legs) and am using fresh lemon juice on them. I am also going to use aloe as well. I have a bunch of aloe plants that are going haywire - may as well put them to good use. So, my spots are supposed to fade in a few weeks according to a natural remedy site- stay tuned if it works. LOL
Today is day two of lemon juice and aloe.... da da da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! :)
It's better to look back on life and say: "I can't believe I did that." than to look back and say: "I wish I did that."
Natasha: Rebecca is right. I was able to lower my blood pressure with weight loss. Well to be honest at first it was sodium reduction, but then it was weight loss. now I'm off the meds altogether. also do meditation and yoga so that helps. I knew I could do it, because my dad did it. I have a BP cuff at home (both homes) and take it often. Also staying away from processed foods helps.
Dusta: Well yes free speech is allowed, but I think what the boss said was in incredibly bad taste. And because I strongly support same sex marriage, I'm choosing not to go there. It's probably a much different atmosphere in the south than over here in CA, so at least I can kind of understand that. I just think it was horribly unprofessional. To be honest I don't go there, cause their stuff is way too high in sodium and calories for me, but if I did, I would definitely stop.
OK..backto work.

Rebecca, I know losing weight will lower it. However, Im not gonna lose enough weight in a day, to make my bp safe. And its not safe for it to be where it was today, for sure. If I exercised with where its at now, itd be dangerous. Ive been on meds for my bp even before I was overweight. Ive been on meds for it since I was 16. It also lowers my pulse as I have a very fast heartbeat. Cute pic of Katie and the other girls!Muril, hope your spots fade!Wish this roast would hurry up! It smells so good!
Natasha, didn't mean to sound like I meant you could cure it over the weekend! it takes time for sure, I am glad you are talking to the Dr. about it. :)
we're having rotisserie chicken for dinner ... what else is there to say? hahahaha
Becca, no biggie girl! I knew what ya meant. Sometimes Im afraid Im judged for being on a medicine :( Anyway! I do plan to get off of them someday by losing weight! That would be wonderful :) LOL on your rotiserri chicken, sounds yummy. One of my fav things (though unhealthy, I love the skin!).Our dinner was good. The roast didnt make as much as it usually does... was very fatty, so more than half had to be thrown away as fat. I seperated the rest of the meat in half and froze that for another meal another time. So only getting 2 meals from this roast.
Colorado bound!!! Leaving our 108 degrees (over 110 heat index) for the cool mountains where the upper temperatures are mid 80's! Excited to be in the mountains with my siblings! Last of the summer horray!
Kris
Morning.
Kris I would love to be in the cool. One of my cousins and her dh are in CO, they go there every summer. She said it was to keep her dh from working out side in the heat. He has had serious heart problems and they thought a couple of times he was going to die. They are the ones that went to see my Mother in the hospital and my cousin was telling her how sick dh had been and he got better. Mother told he was to ornery to die. They thought it was funny.
Rebecca are you still trying to clean? One of the things I am going to do today is clean the table that is in the sun room. It has collected so much stuff on it I can't find things I need. May be one of the reasons I forgot to give Mel one of his meds yesterday. Also need to do some laundry.
Mel looked bad, his eyes, yesterday but looks better this morning. I was worried about him last night and it took me forever to go to sleep. If it wasn't so hot out here I would sleep on the couch, it is comfortable and I nap in the afternoon when we turn on the ac.
Natasha hope your bp improves. After I lost all that weight my cholesterol went up as did my bp, don't know why. I told my dr here i exercise, eat all the right things etc and all this has gone up. Maybe I should go back to eating what I want. lol didn't though.
Muril glad we finally connected yesterday took long enough. Muril called me but I was getting Mels lunch together, then I called her she was making pancakes, then she called me, had left the phone upstairs and I finally called her.
Candy would not have expected anything different from you. I don't go to church but I believe God made a man and a woman to marry. As Mel says "good for you."
hugs sweet ladies
Morning healthy friends!Kris, I so hope you enjoy your trip! Safe travels!Dusta, you should come here. Its been plenty cool here this summer! Sorry Mel hasnt been doing too well. LOL on your phone tag with Muril! Quiet in here this morning! I hope youre all out havin fun!I will have one final Tuesday (and next Saturday) off by myself. Wish I could drive to Centralia again, but I just cant afford to use that much gas so often. I may go ahead and set up the pack n play on Tuesday just for fun. Then keep it up til we have her. i know its early, but oh well. Will ask Sean I guess. It takes up a bit of room :PMy only 2 cents on the topic of this chick fil a business... I think people should be allowed to marry whoever makes them most happy. Everyone deserves to be happy. And the opinion of a businessman should not affect where people do and do not eat. The only time his opinion would NOT be okay, is if he was refusing to serve gay people. Then of course, thats discrimination. The wonders of the USA is we can all have our own opinions! Breakfast - 2 frozen waffles, one with butter and one with biscoff spread. No syrup. Yogurt, coffeeLunch - Ham Sandwich, chipsDinner - Unsure. Its supposed to be the last of the leftover meatloaf, but I wasnt happy with the first half the other night.
Muril forgot to mention....... sun spots sounds so much better than age spots. Now think sun spots.
Hello everyone!
Went to church this morning (we don't go very often anymore..havn't found a church we like) but I knew that my best friend was down visiting her parents, so got to see her for a little while! Her little girl just turned 2 and is a sweetie! Gave me a big hug!! :)
After church went to my parents for lunch, my granny was there too, so she really livened us up! lol Her memory is getting worse, but she is such a hoot sometimes! lol
Now we are back home on the range! :)
Saturday we ended up going to the concert. I drove most of the way because dh was tired, but we had a good time and for ONCE it was COOL outside! Only got up to 88 yesterday! lol But of course its hot again today. :(
Natasha hope you can get your BP lined out! We had ham for lunch today, and I can tell it was really salty. I don't think I would want to take my BP right now! lol Not that I think its like horrible bad, but its probably higher because of the salt. Will have to work it off tomorrow! and drink lots of water! lol
the slaw sounds intresting..never have had it like that!
Rebecca I only eat 2 pc. of bacon (break them in 1/2 so it seems like more on your sandwich) (70 cal), 2 thin slices bread (140 cal.), lite mayo and then tomato, so its not very fattening. Like Candy said...moderation is the key! :)
Well I can say that I have my appetite back! lol So I am feeling better I know! I am still going to try to cut back on meals tho, I think my portions need to be smaller.
Kris enjoy your cool weather! (jealous!! ;)
Sherry hope you have a couple good days at work!
Dusta I love licorice (sp?) but i don't eat it often. When I was little my DB and I used to fight over all the black jelly beans at Easter! lol
Yes Muril! Keep us posted! I don't have 'age' spots, but my complexion isn't very good..I always burn if I am out in the sun, but if I stay out of the sun, then I am a pale ghost! lol
Candy you will have to let me know when you will be in my neck of the woods! I know you said it was in the fall...our weekends are really booked up with dh's band, but I hope we can meet up somewhere along the line! :)
I am still in limbo...waiting to hear from Riley's mom to see if I have her this week or not..?? I wish so bad they could let me know sooner! Grrr! I only have a couple weeks left with her. Then she will be gone.
well off to drink some water! Have a good day ladies! ((hugs))
Dusta, LOL on the sun spots, so right you are!Enjoying some lunch before heading back to work. Kind of a stressful day at work today. Bleck!
Good Morning and Happy Monday Healthy Beauties!
We had a great time with Mom- took her to lunch and by FL to shop a little- she did great considering this is the first time out of the house(except for walking in her yard) since mine and Phyllis's visit about 2 mos. ago- it aggravates me to no end that no one else seems to be able to get her to go somewhere! GRRRRRRRRRRRR! Ok, I feel much better.LOL
Anyway, my niece Rhonda met us for lunch and went to FL as well. She was going to meet up with her hubby and kids later at a camping site so thought it was good that she dropped by. Ronnie spent the day with his wife at the rehab/nursing center. I understand that completely- hope she gets well enough to come home soon- she is only in her late 50s. :(
Dusta, yes, sun spots it is from now on. If I had it to do over again- this girl would not get in the sun for a lengthy amount of time at all and when I did - I would have been slathered with sunscreen. I am pale and need a little for color but I can live with being pale better than being spotted. LOL I ate too much junk yesterday - coming home we opted just to buy a snack to eat- ended up getting dill potato chips- my goodness what was I thinking? We had some grapes, a moz. cheese stick and chips riding home. LOL We had packed the grapes and cheese sticks in our cooler with the water. We got home about 8:30 last night- off this morning to pick up baby girl about 10:00 - today is Ryan's first day back to work and Crystal is solo Mom for a while now- during the day that is. LOL Can't wait to see our girls this morning- wondering how much Kelsie has changed in the past few days and if Macie is going to yell "Baby ,Baby" when we arrive. LOL
Jill, since you aren't getting sun spots - maybe you never will- You don't need to get but about 20 minutes of sun to get the full effects of getting your Vit. D each day- remember not to overdo it.
Natasha, are you still being consistant with you exercise? I am sure you are- love the new pic of Miss Kira on FB- she is a doll!
Debi, how's your girls at the NH doing?
Waves and hugs to everyone- Dawn, Rebecca, Kris, Sherry, Candy and all others else- love you girls
Have fun Kris!!!!
Sherry, did the dust storm affect your area? Looked terrible! :(
Morning!!
Jill - You can marinate the chicken as long as you want next time I'll to it the night before to save on meal time. This time, I did the chicken & put it in the fridge while I sauted the veggies & got the rest of the recipe done. So maybe 20 minutes?!? Hope you hear back from riley's mom soon
Ya'll are so good about the blt's! We seldom eat bacon, so blt's aren't often in the house. But when I make them, I make them
Chick Fil A... I"ll go on the 1st, to support free speech. I don't agree or disagree, but I don't like how some people can say anything while other's can't. There is very much a doubt standard in this country, which can be annoying Just because it's not the popular stance at the moment, the politically correct thing, doesn't mean the man can't say it. Like Natasha said - voicing beliefs is different than not serving a specific person(s). If people eat at CFA because they agree with the viewpoint, fine. If they go simply to promote freedom of speech - in all capacities - even better. If people boycott CFA because they disagree with the statements made, that's fine too! That's the beauty of the USA - we have a constitution and freedoms that allow us to live our lives in our own way. I don't have to like, agree or approve of someone else's choices. It doesn't matter, it's not for me to decide for them....
that was a soap box LOL!!!
We had a good weekend - didn't get as much done as I'd hoped but enough to be satisfied LOL!!! I feel organized too - we're going to the beach in august so I started a list of things to bring. If I don't write them down as I think of them, I'll inevitably forget altogether LOL!!!
hope eveyrrne has a good day!
