Indulgence no longer has to feel guilty. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Well, mine wasn't as bad as it could have been, but it wasn't perfect either.
Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs and my cranberry pecan oatmeal
Lunch: 1/2 of a Subway black forest ham sub loaded with veggies, small bag of chips, plum
Snack: Healthy Choice fudge bar
Dinner: lemony chicken rice soup
Snack: Honeycrisp apple
I have been feeling better but they sat me next to a person who sneezed and coughed all day until she finally went home and then I was in very long post office line with a little kid that was coughing and sneezing all over the place, so now my throat feels scratchy again....so will hit the airborne and maybe the nebulizer again.
Oh my word, check out the cover of Clean Eating. At least it is a healthy type recipe I am drooling over. Hope my issue hurries up because I couldn't find it online. It is a Southwestern Turkey Meatball Skillet dinner and it looks wonderful. I see meatballs, corn, kidney beans, probably red bell peppers (or tomatoes)...and a bunch of fresh cilantro :-)

Sherry - Hope you stay well and don't catch any colds! I'm jealous of yours and everyone else who has Honeycrisp apples! They haven't hit our stores yet, but I'm still looking!
June - Your homemade salsa sounds heavenly! We don't put sugar in our recipe either and it taste great. Do your family members also try and eat your variety of health market grains? I live with my parents and they pretty much stick to their familar food groups. I have been impressed for they are supporting me and eatting more fish and chicken than in the past!
Jill - Fresh pecans! Oh how are you going to enjoy them?!? I would love to have a rainy, dreary day sometime soon. We need the moisture terrible bad!
Cindi - Welcome to our group! Come visit more often and tell us about yourself! Join in whenever you pass our way!
Natasha - Is the gate fixed? I hope a solution was found so you don't have to get up early to let people in. You are a truly dedicated employee! Wishing your TMJ relaxes soon!
Dusta - Your not the "oldest" just one of our more "wisest"!!! We love your young spirit! That's cute that the fish preformed for your cleaning lady!
Dawn - OMW!!! Dropping the sledge hammer on the granite will be one experience that gentleman won't forget! I'm sure Samantha's haircut is adorable! She will look beautiful with a longer hair style.
Muril - You are such a great role model with Macie! She's already following your healthy lifestyle by practicing pilates! Wish you could be my beautician too!
Rebecca - We are missing you around here! Fix that internet so you can drop in for a visit!
Debi - Have you been working out and busy with the NH?
Candy - Where are you traveling for your next trip?
Jeannie and Pammie we haven't heard from you lately. Hope everything is going well!
Waving to everyone who passes through!
My three day weekend has disappeared! Today I worked on paying bills, planned a month of menues (mainly supper ideas), worked out my lower body, and started on some lesson plans that won't be finished tonight. We took our kittens out to the backyard to explore. One of our neighbors stopped by to visit and boy did they run for the door! Somehow they are coming up with rubberbands to play with. I take them away scared they may eat them!
I have a four day weekend in October. I suggested we travel to see the Buffalo River in Arkansas. It would be nice to get away! I also wouldn't mind staying home if only my schedule would slow down. I didn't get eveything done on my list and this evening DF was wanting to add more suggestions! I would just love to have the TV, laptop, and dinning room table to myself one day. I keep telling myself not to wish to hard for someday I will wish I had their company to help entertain and keep me busy!!! I do count my blessings!
Although it's a short week it will be another busy one. I just had to take time out to visit with my HL friends! Have a relaxing evening!
Debi, where have you been? Im kinda worried....Hope all is well with you, your son and his girl, your hubby and your mom and aunt.... let us know everything is okay!Sherry, hope things are going well for you at work! Still swimming? I really should make your home made oatmeal. Does it last a long time? My problem is I go through phases. Ill eat it everyday and then none for 3 months. Your menu sounds good today! Oh my goodness on all the sickness you were surrounded by today! I HATE when people are coughing and sneezing around me. I mean a nasty icky phlegmy cough. I dont mind dry coughing (heck, I coughed 9 months a year before I was diagnosed with asthma)... but the hackers? Ew. Jill, Im so excited! Youre gonna be in the gift exchange this year!? Yahooo!!!!June, I would so love to have a yard where I can garden someday! How rewarding! Jeannie is a friend here and she too uses her kitchen scale a lot :) Im not good with portion control, I liek volume. I wanan feel full. Im afraid of being hungry really. Kris, its so good to hear that your parents are changing their eating habits a bit to suit yours! Its so much easier when you have support :) The gate itself was fixed, but tomorrow there is a scheduled power out, so I still hafta get up and open the gate around 7. Not too early, but still... it sucks getting up to do that on my morning off. Id rather sleep til 9 so Im not without power too long, but no such luck! Hope the kitties dont swallow a rubber band! Another busy day for you it seems. I dunno how you do it! I had a long afternoon. Crazy things going wrong that I was helping people with. So I went out for a few drinks with the girls tonight. Its so funny, I do NOT get along with girls my age, I always get along better with guys, or with ladies 35 and older it seems. I just dont like immature girls. Its almost like being with you ladies. More mature :) Stopped by McDonalds on the way home. I got myself 2 mcdoubles and a tea.Gonna head to bed soon. Hope you all have a fantastic evening!Thinking tomorrow I will delve into a good book in bed, with some candles lit :) I was gonna go to Starbucks with the laptop, but realized they will probably be without power too, since theyre next door.
Natasha you would not like being around Mel especially in the mornings, he has a productive cough. If he didn't he woud end up in the hospital not being able to breathe. Sorry you are having to get up early on your day off.
June I know people that go to WW and neighbors, that's about it. Live close to the base, could walk over there if I wanted to.
Jill glad you are going to do the Santa exchange. Send Kris an email she is doing that part and it is not too late.
Need to get out on the bike. I wait until school has started, i think people wait until the last minute to take their children to school then drive like crazy. Scary out there.
June - glad you got the reply thing figured out. It took us a while LOL!!!! TOH likes to change up the format periodically and we have to learn what to do again :-)
Kris - so glad your parents are supportive, mine are the same way with food. Certain things will never grace their plates :-) But that's what they are used to so.... You're doing great with your new lifestyle, good job!!! ((((hugs))))
Sherry - hope you don't catch the mess everyone was sneezing on you. Some days I wonder about people, no one brings kleenex with them.... blech.
Jill - so glad you're doing the exchange with us this year :-) it's fun, especially when we start early like this. I can start picking up a little at a time.
Muril - how was your day with Miss Macie? LOL at her doing pilates. That is hilarious!!!!
Dusta - have you been able to get out on the bike lately? The mornings are so cool here, wish I had the time to run in the a.m. How are lulu and mel doing?
Hi rebecca, debi, jeannie, candy and everyone!!!
I better get going - need some coffee and want to make sure the floor guy has what he needs. The granite people are coming back today
hope everyone has a good day!

Good Morning Healthy Ones!
I have wonderful news- yesterday evening, Keith called me at about 8:45 (5:45 Vegas time) that he and Lori had just gotten married. Woo Hoo! Love it when a plan comes together. I offically have another daughter! :)
Jill, it's not too late for ss. :) I will add your name to the list and give it to Kris after I get the grand total. :)
Sherry, I still haven't heard from you. :)
Off to get some B'fast and such. Waves and hugs to everyone! Love you all- will catch up later on today!
It's better to look back on life and say: "I can't believe I did that." than to look back and say: "I wish I did that."
IM up, the office is ready, and Im waiting for the power to go out. Blech. Dusta, I know that people HAVE to cough, I just hate being surrounded by that. Especially strangers, you never know what they have! And people seem to lack in manners...Dawn, enjoy your day as well!Muril, congrats on the new daughter in law! And congrats to Keith and Lori! How wonderful :) Im off. Wanna post this before it shuts off!
Hi Girls! Back to chit chat now!
Thank you Natasha- we are so happy for Keith & Lori! Re:coughs... I think people should cover thier mouth when they cough...have been around some that doesn't and it bothers me big time. LOL Especially when they are old enough to know better- you don't expect a young child to know that but they are teachable. :) DH was in the hospital once and a man was in the room with him(older than DH) and he had pneumonia- low and behold- when he coughed - he didn't cover his mouth. DH doesn't have a spleen so he doesn't have the ability to fight of germs that most of us do- so I insisted that they move DH to another room because of the coughing man. Thankfully they did.
Dawn, LOL, I know- Miss Macie is going to be a pilate baby if I have anything at all to do with it! She watches me when I am exercising- like " What in the world are you doing now?" :)
Dusta, I don' t mind someone coughing if they need to- as long as they cover thier mouth. I have to cough when I have a sinus thing going on- yuck- don't we all? Is it cool enough to bike ride today? It is here for sure... :)
Kris, I would love to be your beautician. What fun! I would be scared the first time I cut your hair though- always am a little anxious the first time. :) I need to take a class or two though - to learn some sophisicated stuff. :)
Sherry, you should have given that kid a package of tissues- and told them to cover thier cough- or maybe tell the parent. Isn't it embarrasing that parents don't tell their kids to cover thier coughs. I just don't get it at all. Hope you are doing well today.
June, let us know what you think about the book after you have read it. I think it makes sense. :) Love common sense things. You sound like you are eating very healthy- can't go wrong with whole grain carbs, lean proteins, fruits and veggies. :) I was excited this morning- weighed 135.4 That is the first time I have seen 135 in ages- pretty exciting for me. I don't get in enough fruits and veggies - I can do better but I am implementing the two eggs a day- and a protein shake. I only have carbs(whole grain most of the time but not all the time) at two of the meals and one of the meals with no carbs. I haven't been eating a lot lately because of my sinuses so that may be part of the reason. Plus, DH finished off that apple cake yesterday so I didn't have that calling my name from the kitchen. LOL
Waving to everyone. Debi, are you doing ok these days? We miss you! Pam, how are you doing? Rebecca, we miss you- hope your computer is fixed soon.
Hugs to All! Off to go to Sam's and we need to go by a sporting goods store too.
Hi, Kris. Thanks for the welcome. I'll tell you a bit more about myself when I have a few more monutes. I'm doing laundry today and it's almost time to get another load out of the dryer.
Cindi in NC
Good morning girls.Sorry I have been MIA for a little while.I have to admit that I'm having trouble with the NH drama. It will pass.I'm just sort of sick at my stomach about "attitudes" right now - - - I want to do what is right, but I'll have to figure out what that is - - - oh well.................I started back up on my wieght w.o. program. - - - it come's in sections with a little time off in between. Ran about 4 miles yesterday - and weights today. I'm pooped too - - - today's was a doozie !Natasha - sorry I worried you, but thank you for caring so much. You are a true sweet heart. Hope you are feeling better today. I'm in the 4th and final book. :( I'm going to be sad when it's all over. LOLLooks like we have some newbies - - - WELCOME ! Cindi & June. Dusta - how's that little fish. :)Muril - Congratulations !!!!!! That is just wonderful - another 'daughter' for you. ;)You have email. Well, I've got some things that must be 'tended' to today - - - so waving to all of you !!!!!
Have a great day! (((Hugs)))
Hi cindi - I tried to figure out how to send a message/mail to you earlier but don't think I did it right. I'm still getting used to the new TOH layout LOL!!! I"m in concord :-)
Muril did Elvis marry them?
One of the reason's Mel doesn't go places in the mornings is because of all the coughing.. You know he gets his dr appointments because of all his old man stuff. Speaking of which he has a dr appointment this afternoon and he is showering, has the heat on. I would die in there,
Yes I have been riding the bike, except Sunday it was raining then later it was so humid I stayed in. I think it was raining Sunday, I know I didn't ride that day.
Woohoo Muril~!!!!!!!! I"m so glad everything went well for K&L, how fun to do vegas :-) Congrats on a new DIL, I guess now it's "formal" LOL!!!
Debi ((((((hugs))))))) I"m so sorry about the NH mess. A lot of their care & well being falls to you, and you have such a good heart. We know DAunt can't help it, but you don't deserve that kind of treatment. You take very good care of them.
I ran to target at lunch - NOT a good idea I had to pick up a few things for the office and I knew better than to look at anything not on my list. But nooooooo! I had to "just look". *snort* Does that ever work?!?!?!?!? The $1 bins they have at the entrance? All kinds of cool halloween things - picked up a bunch of stuff for Sam at home, plus for her classroom. Actually - I"m going to admit this - I found a number of Christmas gifts for sam, dh & some family. So much was being clearanced to make room for the holiday merchandise, seemed silly to pass it up.
how is that for justification? Cuz dh is going to kill me ROFL!!!!!
Dawn just remind him how much money you have saved. That should take care of that. Makes sense to me.
Dawn: You're being smart to get started on Christmas early. When September rolls around, my thoughts turn to Christmas, and some people find that hard to believe. I start asking my kids for ideas for them, their spouses, and the grands. They always say, "What! It's just September!" ... I really like what's at the end of your posts.
TxDebi: Hello, and thanks for the welcome! Running 4 miles - wow! Do you do this outdoors or on a treadmilll? I have a treadmill but don't use it faithfully as I should. I have a 40-minute program set up where I walk 10 minutes, jog 10 minutes, put it on a medium-high incline for 10 minutes, then walk 10 more minutes. It is "sort of" difficult for me, but not so hard that I totally dread doing it. Once I get started I always enjoy it, of course. It burns approximately 300 calories and it's about 2 1/4 miles. I would like to say that I do it every day, but some times I skip. I do a lot of yard work outdoors, so I try to justify in my mind that I don't need the treadmill workout. But I know I still need it. I mow a huge yard (several acres) with a tractor, but I have a lot of areas that I have to use a push mower, plus a lot of areas to weedeat. I also have 5# dumbbells that I love to work out with. I do manage to do several short workouts a day, like while running my bath water and such.
Swtcakes: CONGRATULATIONS on being at such a great weight. That is wonderful. Have you gone through your closet and tossed out and added? I never tell anyone my weight, but since you went first (), I'll jump in there. I've touched down to 130 ---- for the first time in 5 years, so I, too, feel the excitement you express. I've lost (I never tell this either) 45 pounds. My main goal was to loose 30 pounds, so imagine my surprise when I continued to loose on this Food Plan. 5 years ago I got down to 125. I hadn't been that weight in decades. After I gained it all back and then some, I didn't expect to EVER get anywhere near that number again. I'm going to try to be content at 130 and just concentrate on maintaining -- for once in my life. I have a very big problem in taking things to the extreme. I'm either eating very little or I'm eating everything in sight. I KNOW I have to find that balance. When I hit 145 (my initial goal), I started eyeing 140. Then when I hit 140, I started eyeing 135. At 130 I am eyeing 125. If I got to 125, would I be eyeing 120? 115? And so forth and so on??? I've always wanted to be "rail-thin". I end up eating less and less and trying to reach impossible goals, then I get sooo burned out and so tired of feeling deprived, and start back overeating ... What you eat sounds very very much like what I eat. No grains or starchy vegetables at the noon meal ... Also, I wanted to say that at this age, I know that being too thin can be AGING. It can produce the opposite results from what I am looking for - which is a strong, healthy, fit, body.
TXCookie: What is WW? Is your husband in the military?
SnnysAngl: Having a large garden is soooo much work. It just about kills me in the summer. But it is so worth it to have all those tomatoes for homemade soup and such. In June I was barely sleeping and ended up having a HORRIBLE panic attack that sent me to the hospital for tests. I know it was from the stress. We had about 100 tomato plants. DH was picking tomatoes by the bushel and bringing them in the house for me to can. Corn got ripe at the same time. You have a small window of time to work with the corn or it will get hard. Bushels and buschels looking at me. Green beans produced better than they've ever produced. I was also chopping and freezing peppers as fast as they came on the vine, so they wouldn't ruin. Two days straight I worked 16 straight hours blanching and canning. I didn't hardly stop to eat. People know that in June not to expect me to return phone calls, answer emails or anything! I'm stuck in the garden or kitchen! I would be in the garden at daylight picking corn and beans.
Kris: Hello to you. My husband thinks I'm a very strange eater. He's always said that I eat the weirdest things. He sees me cooking millet and says it looks just like the birdseed I feed the birds. He can't believe that I actually LIKE rice cakes. (Only the plain ones are allowed on this Food Plan. .No cheddar or chocolate or anything yummy, but I have come to love them.)
Thanks again to everyone for the suggestion of how to open another box and type. It's definitely made it much easier, thus more enjoyable.
I hope everyone has a blessed and peaceful evening.
