    hi girlies

I had the weirdest day, didn't get much of anything done, not sure why I was just so tired.  Took a couple of naps ... whoops!  Anyway, we are safe from the fires, we are not that close to the foothills and we have water between the fire and us.  But, we have terrible dryness here so this fire will likely burn for months - they are hard to get under control here due to the wind and the lack of rain.  It's very frustrating.  We were already under drought conditions.  At least this is a natural causes fire, from a lightening strike, instead of started by someone who is ignoring the fire bans.  Fortunately, there is a mountain ridge that is protecting where Katie is at daycamp from the smoke and such, we drove thru alotta smoke this morning getting her to camp, but once we were there it was all blue skies.  Such a deal.

It is hard though, you can definitely see the haze and people with breathing issues are supposed to stay indoors.

Kris, glad you had fun, as always you are productive!  Glad you got a chance to get your hair done, I'm getting mine done on the 18th right before vacation, don't wanna go on the road looking floofy!

Hi everyone, I'm about to call it a night ... :)

    Hi Healthy Beauties!

I am up and at 'em and in a few minutes need to head out to pick up Macie girl! :)

I actually found a babyfood mill yesterday at the Co-Op- kinda by accident- was just looking around and there it was. LOL Needless to say- will have to think of some food to grind for her now. LOL

I baked the last cake layer and it's frozen- need to start making the buttercream frosting and refrigerate it- probably make it tomorrow and also make the roses to decorate the cake with- so they can dry before Saturday.

Dusta, sorry Mel fell. (((Hugs)))) I know that must have scared you and him. Yay on your loss! That's good!

Natasha, sounds like you have a bunch of sweet momentos. I have cards and such too- I keep old receipts too- but have cut down on keeping them through the years. :)

Hi Dawn! Hope your day is going well today!

Rebecca, love your new pics of Katie- she is so cute! Maybe you just needed to regroup and rest yesterday- nothing wrong with that. :)

Kris, glad you had time to go to the beauty shop- love the pampering from my hairdresser. I should go get a trim myself.

Jill, so glad you are back to keeping a journal on your food choices- that's great! It helps so much to be accountable to yourself!

Debi, that is so cute about you sneaking! :) Love it!

Sherry, how are you doing today? Are you working today?

Hugs and Waves to everyone else! Candy, what's up with you these days?

    morning!

Rebecca - LOVE the new pictures of katie :-) She's such a doll. Ahhhhh, I'll come nap with you next time. Sounds like a good way to spend the day if you ask me LOL!!!

Muril - good deal on the babyfood mill. I had a mini-food processor from cuisinart, worked really well. Only did 2 or 3 cups, but it was perfect for making babyfood.  How are crystal & baby?

Kris - no rush on the swap names :-) Last thing we want to do is add to your work load ((((hugs)))). Only four of us this summer, so it will be easy for you :-)

Dusta - I'm so sorry about mel, I hope he's ok this morning.  What was he thinking, getting on a scale like that?!?!? SOM. Must have scared you witless. He's going to give us HL gals a heart attack if he keeps this up Hmm

Jill - I do better with a food journal also. It's an eye opener when you see what you eat  & when. I make MUCH better choices when I *see* what I'm eating listed out.

hi natasha, candy, sherry, debi and everyone!

Looks like today will be slower for me, woohoo!! I'm tired of the busy LOL!!!  I miss my HL gals :-)

hope everyone has a great day!!

Morning Girls! Im up earlier than usual today again, so thought I would enjoy my first cup of coffee BEFORE my shower. So Im hanging out with you girls and my coffee :)

Rebecca, glad to know you guys are safe from the fire. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing someone throw cig butts when we have a fire ban going. Thankful that your fire is from lightening. Itll be fun, getting your hair done before vacation! Im not doing anything special before hand. Im happy with my hair as is right now.

Muril, that cake is gonna be gorgeous :) We dont keep anything like that anymore, just from when he would visit when he lived in NC. We dont have room to keep anymore stuff LOL Have fun with macie today!

Dawn, yay for a slow day at work! Enjoy it :)

We decided for Fathers Day we will be able to celebrate on Saturday. My dad has a motorcycle ride but will be done by evening, so we will have dinner at their place. So, we will have lunch with my moms boyfriend so we can see each father. I know its a day early, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when you work most holidays. So were having a hot dog lunch on Saturday. Im contributing spinach dip and dippers. Just a simple yummy lunch. Dinner will be grilled pizzas.

Today, another day of work. Im so ready to be off for a while. Between split days off, and not having a real amount of time off since November, Im so ready for some time off. After a while, it just gets to me.So Im definitely ready. Even my boss can tell, Im losing my patience, I need to escape from work. Not in a bad way of course, she can just tell.

Hoping today goes well at work. Wishing for an easy peasy day!

    Have a great day ladies!

Breakfast - Coffee, cinnamon toast, unsure what else
Lunch - Yogurt and Granola, Grapes
Dinner - Baked salmon with some dill and cucumber sauce, noodle roni, veggie of some sort

    Good Morning Ladies:

Sorry I’ve been scarce lately, but I’ve been really busy with work thngs. We’re up in the mountains and it’s beautiful. It’s going to be a busy week, as I have a lot of deadlines, but I’ve got some yard work to do as well.

Interesting to hear all the dating stories. Charles and I met at a American Red Cross Tea – we were both volunteering there – and the next day I left for Peru for about a month. It was back in the day where the internet wasn’t used much by consumers but I did have somewhat of a connection for work. Anyway, he e-mailed and sent gifts and cards, and we decided to meet up after my assignment and travel to Bolivia and Ecuador. That’s pretty much how our dating went for the first year, as we both traveled for work. We had some really fun and exciting 2 week long dates, but that’s totally typical in this business. And the poor guy darned near bought out all of Victoria’s Secret, as I was always getting sexy underwear gifts! Anyway, after about a year of that we decided to live together, which was kind of funny because I think at that time we owned  something like 6 houses, a condo and a NYC apartment, and neither of us had a preferance of where to live. Eventually we decided on my home state of CA and from when we moved in together we decided we would never travel without the other. Eventually we discovered we clicked as a working team to, so that made things a lot easier. And I have a disc saved of e-mails Charles sent to me, but I would never print them out:)

Natasha: Thanks for sharing your and Sean’s history. I was never quite clear of who came from NC, but I guess in a way you both did. You’ll have fun at the baseball game, and after all you’re all packed so you shouldn’t stress about anything. Oh, you mentioned pizza – have you ever tried classico low calorie Alfredo. It’s very goo, and low in calories and sodium. We end up freexzing it as there are probably 5-6 dinners for us in one jar.

Rebecca: Glad  you are safe from the fires.  We have that problem in the mountains here too. It’s suppose to be a bad fire year. We are in the national forrest and last year they banned smoking here althogether, which I think is great. The flat-landers come up here for the weekend and they just don’t understand the first thing about fire safety. Wow, Katie is really growing. At this rate she will need a whole new wardrobe for school this fall.

Muril:  Your cake sounds very pretty. I like to look at them, but I just don’t like to eat them. Have you ever seen the Cake Wrecks website? I go there for comic relief every now and again. As for the gal showing off her body in bikini pics, well lots of folks do it. I say, if ya got it flaunt it! I think it kind of shows that she’s comfortable in her skin, which is not something everyone can say. A positive body image is soooooo important. Good luck on getting your cholesterol in check. I’m going off my BP meds this summer and switching to holistic methods. I have a good feeling about it. I’m so fed up with western medicine.

Dusta:  All this talk about old letters made me remember that one that I found when I was cleaning out my dad’s place after he passed away. It was my letter from camp that I sent to him and my mom when I was about 4. I didn’t keep a lot of things from his place, but I did keep that one.

Sherry:  My, you have a big job with the decluttering. My dad was a pack rat too, and it was such a chore cleaning out his place.  He lived about 3 hours away and every day Charles and I would go down there and just o through stuff. Finally after about a month we hired an auction company to get rid of the rest of the stuff. There was some stuff left over that we just hauled away, and then we had to clean, paint and spruce up the place before we rented it out. It had a pool too, and I had such a love-hate relationship with it, so I understand your pool frustrations. Finally we got a good pool guy who would run out and take care of all the little pool emergencies, but I will tell you I was muh happier after I sold the place!! I knew I could never live there – too many ghosts. Not literally, just old baggage.

Jill:  OK, another stupid question.  Does PCOS make it more difficult to loose weight, or are you not suppose to loose weight with the condition? Sorry, but I really don’t know that much about it, even though it seems a lot of my friends have it.

Debi:  Good luck with figuring out your allergies. It must be frustrating, especially since you have a sensitivity to many things. I have heard that as we age and our hormones change, so do our food sensitivities. So with any luck, menopause may have helped you with some of them.

Hi to Kris and Dawn. Back to work now.

    Breakfast – rice and beans

Lunch – half of a small boboli caramelized onion pizza

Dinner – planked salmon and green beans

    Hi girls,
This darn site - would not let me on yesterday.
Or maybe it was my computer - it kept telling my that my Protector was detecting a virus from this site.
Oh well - let's see if I can get on today.

Rebecca - soooooooo glad that the fires are not near you - I was wondering. That Katie is so cute in the new picture. Send her on over - I will let her do my dishes. ;)

Candy - I hope my hormones are getting rid of the food problems and not causing any new ones. LOL
so far I haven't been able to pin one down for the weight fluff I was having.

Muril - Can't wait to see pictures of the new cake for the new baby.
I bet everyone is getting excited waiting for her arrival.

Dusta - Oh my, poor Mel. Glad that he is OK.
My FIL has been in the hospital this week for dehydration. He just doesn't drink enough.
My mom doesn't either. They just don't feel thirsty anymore - and you just about have to make them drink.
I guess we will go see FIL this weekend.
Hopefully he will be back home by then.
WhooHoo - on the weight loss!

Natasha - getting excited about the trip????? It's almost here.

I better scoot for now - did not get in a good workout today.  Just didn't feel like it.
We mowed yesterday evening so the yard is lookin' good - - - suppose to rain again today - and hope it does, because we can use all we can get.
Not sure what I'll make for dinner tonight - - - I'm bored with food - but yet I could eat everything in the house.
    sheesh !
I wish I would have ran this morning..............
I did finish reading Water for Elephants.  Good book, just not funny and light hearted like I thought it was gonna be.
Started reading 'the Help" yesterday - - -

Waving to all of you gals !!!!!    (((hugs))))

  • Re: H L Topic of Week of June 9-15~ Slash your Cholesterol~

me too, Debi, I couldn't get on all day wasn't til last night it finally allowed me!  shocking!  i hope you like The Help better, I think you will, I really liked it, it's funny and sad at the same time.  I did not like watching the previews of the Water For Elephants movie, I don't like circuses or elephants for that matter, I'm weird, not a story I'm interested in though.

Dusta, you go girl, you are gonna disappear though, please don't let that happen, and that SOM Mel, what is he trying to do, kill us all?  When I read that he fell again, I almost fell down!  stop it! So glad he's okay, sure it scared you something sillly!

Candy, PCOS makes it hard to lose weight - possible, but harder.  It makes it hard to get PG as well - I didn't get pregnant until I lost 30 pounds on WW.

Went to the $1 movies with Ross today, not very good, but he enjoyed it a little anyway, can't have him getting bored around here!

I am actually getting some stuff done before I pick up miss daycamp, whew!  Jack has bowling league tonight, so that's on the top of the priority list.  Stopped at the weird battery store to get a weird battery and I had a coupon for a free light bulb - the fancy swirly kind - and he's like "what kind of light/temp do you want?" so I said, huh? and he repeated himeself but he was talking so fast I couldn't understand him so I said I have no idea then he showed me this light box and how one type makes everythign look orange and one type made everything look really pale and so I took the middle one that is supposed to just make things look like they look .. werid.  All that for a free bulb ...

    Okay, more later!  XXOO

    Hello everyone!

Candy- having PCOS makes it difficult to lose weight....your hormones are all messed up and it affects your insulin levels (that is why a lot of women with PCOS have sugar problems) also the side affects of having PCOS makes it difficult to excersise....lack of energy, fatigue,  ect...if you have PCOS and can lose weight you are a lot healthier and don't have near as many side affects.

Last night had a nice homecooked meal with the inlaws...

today just watching Riley...she is suppossed to be taking a nap right now, but I don't think she is...went outside for a little while this morning..its a nice day today!

    Meal plan today-

    Breakfast- platter from Hardee's

Lunch- pork swiss steak w/potatoes, spinach

Supper- not sure..maybe leftovers from lunch, or cereal

    Hope everyone is doing well!

    Afternoon ladies.

Been busy today. Went to the base twice, second time it was so crowed, around lunch time and was almost impossible to find a parking place. The man that cleans to and cuts stuff in the yard was here, that takes up time. Pt guy came and worked with Mel. Mel's hand looks much better and he is a little sore, but okay.  I told him What you all said about his fall. He said he was going to be more careful, but he said that before. Since March of 2011 this is the 4th time he has fallen.

Debi hope you fil is better and gets to go home. How far does he live from you?  Mel had me plant the tomatoes too close together and they are not making very many and he also had me fertilize them too much. Put a lot of growth in the busy part. All the years I planted tomatoes I never planted them this close.

Natasha I know you are excited about your vacation. I would love to go on another long trip, but I will not be doing that. I would like to go to St Petersberg, FL. I think that is it, oldest town in the US and Key West. We didn't get to stay in KW but a few days because of the weather. They made all the tourist leave.

Kris do you want another job? lol I am sorry I missed your call yesterday, but that was about the time Mel fell and the rest of the day was I was in a tizzy.

Muril know your cake will be lovely, but the best part, made by her grandmother and it will be good too.

Rebecca so glad you are not near the fires. Katie is the cutest little girl.

Had a grilled chicken sandwich from McD's now need to see how many points I had.  Hate to look, since I ate the bun I am guessing at least 10 :( Well I liked it at the time. Silly me.

Hugs to all my sweet friends.

Debi, sorry to hear about your FIL. Sending good thoughts :) Sorry you didnt like the last book, but Ive heard good things about The Help! Hope you like it! You bet Im excited, and feeling a lil overwhelmed too LOL

Dusta, sorry the base was so busy today. Oh goodness, I would LOVE to go to the Folirda Keys!

Jill, glad youre having nice weather! Your lunch today sounds good :)

Rebecca, what movie did you see that wasnt very good?

Candy, what overwhelms and stresses me out is the non stop going until the time comes to leave. Ill look for thet alfredo sauce next time I get some. We dont use it often (Sean hates white sauces). Your mountains sound so pretty :) Enjoy your time though, even though youre super busy!

I ended up having a bowl of granola and skim milk for lunch. 3/4 cup granola, so I know its a lot more than one serving, but boy am I starving today. My toast didnt hold me over.

LOL, the non-stop going makes time go by faster.  It's better than siting there watching the clock. Before you know it, it will be vacation time. Look at it this way, you can always sleep on the plane.

    Hola!

yeah, that Katie is a minx, she has too much fun, gotta love that about kids, they take the simple pleasures in life and have fun with them.  She is totally getting her money's worth out of camp and comes home everyday just like she rolled in the dirt all day - she is having TOO mucy fun.  She's about to burst, since tomorrow is the campout - she has to get all packed tonight and "practice her sleeping bag"  hahahahaha  I had forgotten all about the time at GS camp when my unit did a 20 mile bike ride (RT), packing our gear on our backs and slept out in a field and cooked and everything, super fun!  but I had always camped as a kid from little on, Katie has not camped before, so ... I can't imagine what she will look like when I pick her up Friday afternoon!  hahahaha

You are so right Candy, about the time going by faster when you are busy - I was just thinking why it all seemed so easy this year to plan our trip and then I remembered that last year we took baby Bubba with us, so all of that extra everything and all the legal paperwork and what not - this year it's like I feel like I'm forgettting something, but I don't have to do anything extra this year!  No one to answer to except me!

the movie we saw today was The Legend of the Guardians ... it's a computer animated thing with owls ... now, I kinda forgot how much I dislike birds, but .... ewwww - and the story was okay, but ... yeah, worth $1 ... hahahaha  These summer movies they are playing, don't know who picks them, some are great, some not so much.  tomorrow I think we're seeing the Avengers so that should be fun.  At some point we will see the new Disney one and Madagascar III I think it is.  Maybe when we are grandma and grandpas ... they will likely get tired of us quickly!  hahahaha  Katie has put in a request for mini golf and they have some fun ones at my folks place - they have lots of tourist stuff there for all the fishing people.

Okay, I need to cook some chicken so I have it in the fridge, I'm just not in the mood to fuss with it ... wish the maid would take care of that stuff for me!  hahahaha  whoops, guess that's me!

Debi, sorry to hear about your FIL, hope he feels better soon.  Everyone stay safe now and no more falls, cuts, scrapes, or drama or trauma! That's an order!

Candy, yeah I suppose being busy in the evening and on my day off makes time fly by. The days however, are never busy. I sit for 8 hours and read. But I very rarely ever sleep on a plane. I can think of only once. We had flown to Las Vegas early in the am (I was up at about 2am that day, and only slept an hour or so that night). I didnt sleep on the flight to. But we did the tourist thing all day, and our flight home was that same night at 11pm. I slept that flight home LOL but Id been going for so long, I kinda just passed out. Cant remember another time I slept on a plane. Im not a napper or someone who falls asleep or stays asleep easily, so a planes just never been a sleeping place for me! Now the car, thats another story :P

Rebecca, Im soooo happy that Katie is having such a grand time at camp! Hope the overnighter goes well. Youre right, your trip must seem way more laid back to prep for, without bringing Bubba along. You will have a fabulous time! Huh, I saw the previews for that movie, and wasnt sure why anyone in the world would wanna see a movie about fake owls.

Dinner is cooking away. Im doing a pan saute on the salmon with some lemon pepper seasoning, and topping with a homemade tatziki style sauce. I sneaked a taste of that, and its sooo good! Im having macaroni and cheese with mine. Seans having plain white rice. Dont feel like fussing with a veggie. The sauce has cucumber, does that count? :P

Ended up fixing chipped beef gravy & biscuits for supper....still under my calories for the day! :) Makes me feel better knowing what I am eating!

Sat. Dh is going to Bean Blossom for the day....I am not going to go this time...its so much money, and its not like he will sit and enjoy the stage show....he always wants to go jam with his friends and I feel like I am just draggin behind. He would like for me to go, if money wasn't so tight, but he is excited about going and I don't want to be a spoil sport and ruin the fun, So I think I am going to go to KY with my parents to see my aunt...she is back in the hospital having more tests done.

hahahah Natasha, fake owls ... yeah, well, tt's true, no one needs to see it, for some reason I thought it would be cool - WRONG - anyway, at least it was only $1 ...

I am so jealous of Katie!  hahaha all new equipment, too much fun and I don't get to go ... that's okay though, I get to go in August!

I'm trying really hard right now to get her laundry done and packed - I swear I think she just rolls around in the dirt there she comes home so filthy - yuck, I mean her little white socks are brown now ... don't think anything will get that out, fortunatley she needs new socks too, so these will just get retired after the summer.  I've been off my menus all day today - had eggs and toast for dinner, it was soooooooo good.  had fish and veggies for lunch.  Tomorrow I will try and eat light breakfast and lunch cuz we're going out for dinner.

okay, back to my packing list!
