Well, I loaded it to my photobucket but can't remember how to post a picture on here. Duh!!!
I did, however, change my Avatar so you can see a picture of it there.
If someone wants to take the time to tell me how to put a picture on here, I'll be happy to do it.
Hugs
Kathy
Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea. Did you ever have one of those...moments...the ones that stand out in your mind and cause you to think..... Why did I do that? Well, let me tell you about one of mine. In between of the shuffle and bustle of shopping yesterday I kept running right into this gentleman, I mean litterally running into him, as he was on my heels. There I was list plastered to the outside of my purse and cart flying. I had changed course thinking perhaps it was me...and there he was again! Ooof...I felt a little like that bull in the china shop, fighting weather dizzies and definitely not at my best.
All of a sudden he speaks up to me, "Scuse me Maam, but I just have to KNOW, what that perfume is yor wearing." I hesitated, because the truth was, I had no perfume on that I know of at all. He took that to mean he had overstepped his bounds and went on to explain. "I am shopping for a Valentine's gift for my wife and you smell so good I have to buy that same perfume for her." Well, here I was just dumbfounded but truth is stranger than fiction and the truth is this. As I was walking out the front door I grabbed a can of air freshener and shot it...just so I could enjoy a good smell when I returned, and the can was backwards. Yup, Poof, a full frontal dose.
Now, what did I tell that gentleman? Well, of course I didn't tell him that. I begged amnesia! He seemed crestfallen and apologised for bothering me...and I felt about as tall as a caterpillar on the floor. Niceities made, I proceeded through the line and out the door. DH Alan drove the little ways home and I asked him if he thought I smelled nice, he took a whiff and smiled..he said, "You smell like home and everything I love, I'd know that scent anywhere." Far be it from me to spoil his illusions.
So, be prepared, and if by chance you like a certain scent in the air....chances are, you should make sure you stand under the veil of mist....you never know....that $2 stuff may be better than Chanel No 5. lol
One glance out the window tells me that the elves were busy last night returning our snow cover. I told them they could keep it but they never listen..so welcome to a fresh blanket, pulled up at the corners for neatness. The ski lodge is open for business and if you have a warm fire and a good book, life looks pretty amazing inside out.
Dear Carole, Thank you so much for baking Kathy's cake and relieving a worry I didn't have yet. My pan is so old I have threatened to throw it out and replace it with one of those new glass ones, but I'll hang onto it.
Dear Kathy, I may not be able to see the picture but my imagination is pretty good and I know its going to be a lovely presentation. I hope your PT was really nice to you yesterday and that you find yourself in good shape with all your efforts.
Dear Hedgie, A new computer is sooo nice! I have been looking at a little wireless number that I could practically put in my purse. It's a little bit like cordless phones though, I can't quite believe in it working. DS and Tina have no problem with that but I believe in cords and houseplugs. I hope you are well ponnected and that we will hear all the news from your corner of the world.
Dear Susie, I am so glad you have come to write. I didn't make it to the outdoor sculpture event, although I enjoyed it [once I thawed out] last year. I can remember ducking into one of those elegant little shoppes and I almost bought the hugest faux fur coat for the walk to the car! I always feel very brave on the walk down the road...it's coming back, when I think I won't make it that daunts me, lol. I can remember telling DH to leave me behind and save himself....of course he just held on tighter, my hero!
Dear Carolyn, Let's play like Spring has sprung! Maybe if we get enough people to paricipate we can chase away Winter. I am half tempted to buy some silk crocus and tulips just to surprise people going by.
Dear Anne, I am still blessing your introduction to Twinings Revive with Ginger and Lemon, I can't believe that I'm almost out again! I hope you are having a lovely time with little Scarlett and that the breeze is on the warm side.
Ohh Elza...where are you? I miss you very much!
I hope everyone that has the desire to has seen the little post about the Valentine's Box Exchange. I will hand out the partner names later on today. Thank you for always indulging me with the joys of busyness and the delights of friendship.
Today is word collection day...I am thinking I need to pick up a few extraordinaries, energizers, and definitely at least one....breathtaking. I might have to go out to get some brilliance which will lead to a cozy comfort after I've done the work. Have a lovely day and don't forget to wave to your friends and neighbors!
Your very grateful hostess and friend, Mary
Dear Kathy, How totally brilliant to replace your little picture in the corner with the picture of that cake! It is so lovely...I have to have one for my own table. Prayers and blessings are winging their way to you. Your friend, Mary
I'm still here! I've been working extra hours last week and yesterday while a co-worker had to be away, but I'm so glad to be off today.
We had just a little bit of snow this morning but apparently all the weather and road treatment timing worked together so that, just as the snow melted on the treated roads, the temperature dropped very quickly and turned everything to ice. So, the local news has been filled with reports of cars, trucks and busses sliding off the roads. Even DH left for work and returned about 30 minutes later, unable to get out of our neighborhood because of the traffic backups.
I'm still in my gym clothes, planning to get out this afternoon and also make a run to the grocery store. In the meantime, however, I have a pork roast in the oven, cooking with salsa verde, onions and chili powder, and it is making my house smell like a Mexican restaurant! Yum. I've also got laundry done and cleaned two bathrooms. Progress is being made.
I tried a lovely tea last night -- I'm sure it was sent by someone in one of our exchanges -- Stash's Chocolate-Hazelnut Decaf tea. It was just right for a light "dessert" and I enjoyed it very much.
Mary, I had a co-worker ask the same question once at our office and I just told him the truth -- it was Lysol!
Good Evening Tea Angels
This mornng I thought spring was coming but then it started snowing in the afternoon. What a tease that was. We are supposed to get more of the white stuff this weekend. At least the really bitter cold has left us for a while. Only two more months until spring.
So far I am enjoying my new computer. It is user frinedly but I am missing many of the programs on my old one. I do not have a publishing program and I used that for so many things. It also does not seen to have many graphics. I am still hoping my SIL is able to get the old one up and running and I will use it just for the things I used to do with publisher. I don't know if I can istall it on this one. It is so much faster than the old one so I will love being on the internet. My old one was taking so long to open anything.
Kathy, I will have to back track and find that cake recipe that everyone is talking about.
Mary, I can't wait to start filling the valentine box. I have picked up a few little things and am looking forward to shopping for more.
Good Night and sweet dreams,
Hedgie
Good Morning Dear Friends inTea. It is so cold...my computer froze, lol. I think I have the keyboard humming and will try to play a little catch up here.
I have been waiting patiently for one more person to sign up for the Valentine Box Exchange. If that doesn't occur than I do have a marvelous alternate plan, but more on that as we go along. Right now, it stands that we will pack a lovely surprise package for a dear friend, due by the holiday.
Dear Hedgie, you won't have to look far for the cake recipe from Kathy, its in this post, just a page back. I have such trouble with new electronics, I need the Dummies book for every single one. When you look back though to our parents before us, they didn't have any of this to contend with and were quite happy, so, I giggle a little and call it a liberal arts education.
Dear Carolyn, Have you figured out your new cell phone yet? Again, there is a Dummies book for it, guess how I know, lol.
Dear Elza, I am about ready to abandon ship with this weather, it is playing such a havoc with my health I confess to the near constand peuwnies. It gives me an excellent excuse for treating myself to lots of tea and rest. I laughed so hard about the Lysol....
Dear Kathy, I have everything for that cake and hope to make it today. I can't wait to show it off! Thank you so much for sharing it. I hope you are doing well since your therapy.
Much to my delight, I have company coming for lunch. Chicken noodle soup and sandwiches, with oatmeal cookies sandwiched with vanilla ice cream is on the menu.
Life is pulling on my reins so I am whoaing already, and settling down to be content in the day. Your very truly grateful hostess and friend, Mary
I'm so excited for everyone to try my cake recipe. I want to hear everyone's comments, good or bad. Let's see some more pictures too. How fun is that. Now quite as fun as being able to taste it.
Earl came home last night. We will be meeting friends for lunch if I get out of the doctor's appointment on time. Looking forward to some good ole deli. I tell myself everytime I'm going to order something different but it ends up being a reuben every single time. I'm also going to get a matza ball soup to go.
Mary, your luncheon sounds delightful. Enjoy your friends.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Hi to all of you, Kathy, You can never go wrong with a good Reuben. MMM. That cake you have put us all onto looks so divine. Waiting for names for the Valentine box. Waiting and anticipation are the fun parts anyway.
We are due for that big storm Thursday around early afternoon. I so hope the weatherman's prediction misses us as can be the case.
Emr, I want to see your pictures when I can backtrack here. You have been working long hours, time for for some R&R yet?
Hedgie, Glad your computer is user friendly. Most things I get are supposed to be, but I still have a wee bit of trouble with new thingies. Until I muddle through and catch on.
Yes, Mary, My phone has a dummies part to the instructions and I will bet I know how you knew. lol
TTYAL Blessings to all.
Good afternoon angels, I tried twice this morning to post and got it all typed and hit post and it disappeared. So I just got off and let it rest. I have been home today, a little under the weather. I am feeling better at the moment, I put a ham in the oven this morning and it is all ready now. Supper is going to be Ham sandwiches this afternoon.
Mary, I already got ideas for my Valentine box. Can't wait until this weekend to go shopping.
Well I need to go and finish up my laundry and clothes for work tomorrow. Have a great afternoon and sweet dreams everyone.
Carole
Good morning angels, I am rushing through this morning. I am feeling a little better, I am going to work. Well Everyone have a great day and be safe
Hugs and Love
Yodel-A-Heee-Whoooo!!!! Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea...look at meeee...I'm skiing all the way to the tea room! When you have a warm heart and are full of spirit the weather cannot stop the forward motion of a big smile. Look over there! It's a beautiful sight to see, and oh, over there...where's my camera...It's breathtaking! This is not bike or skateboard weather and despite the lovely swimsuits featured in every store, I am not buying.
It's hot tea weather at it's finest. I guaranTEA it will lift you right up out of your chair and set lovely happenings in place.
My cake flopped as did my biscuits last night. Today the appliance repair is due to fix my malfunctioning oven. It is a sticky problem as sometimes it gets too hot and other times it runs cold, but today its going to shape up or ship out!
This is Valentine Partner Reveal Day and as I pull those names out of the teacup I will send the information, so you can delight with me. Because the number has remained odd I am claiming the priviledge of hostess and sending a smaller version of the Valentine Box to everyone who signed up. Oh I love that!
Now where did I put my nose warmer? I have to scoot but, if you hurry before the snow covers the tracks...you can come along. Nat King Cole sung it just right...it is A Wonderful Whirrled!
Good afternoon angels, Wow it has been a long day. Any way it has been a beautiful day here. SO that it can cloud up and rain tomorrow. then on Saturday they are saying posssible snow. No wonder I am sick, hot, cold, rain, snow you never know how to dress.
Got my Valentine Partner and I am so happy. Now the shopping begins.
Mary, what kind of cake was you making that flopped. Hope you got your oven fixed now.
Well I need to go clean house a little (little is key word), DD is having a friend over tomorrow night. Have a great afternoon, and sweet dream dearest of angels
God Evening Everyone,
More snow today, not ewnough to really amount to much. It did cover the dirty gray stuff though. It did bring very cold air with it.
Can't wait to get on my email to see who my paertner is. I have a few things already and can't wait to finish shopping.
Sweet dreams,
hedgie
BRRRRR......Good Morning Dear Friends in Tea. I have a lovely tea to mention here that is just right for this deep freeze weather. "Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice" is a most unusual blend. It features 3 kinds of cinnamon, orange peel and sweet clove. There are plenty of cinnamon teas but this one packs a real whallop of flavor and one tea bag is plenty for two very large servings. Harney also has a Holiday Tea which is spicey, but not a deeply effecting.
[Shuffling cup and papers], Ahem...everyone should have their partners for the Valentine Exchange. If not please send me a little note. I just want to mention that in case a friend comes to call with a sigh...that they missed the deadline...I have a partner for you!
Dear Carole, It was Kathy's cake that flopped. My oven is tempermental and won't give up its secret woes to the appliance person so he replaced the thermostat and told me to cross my fingers. I baked meatballs last night and they were just perfect...so onto muffins! Speaking of last night's dinner, I prepared the Rice-a-roni, Natures Way, Parmesan and Romano rice...ohhh thas nice...lol. Rounded out with english peas and there wasn't so much as a grain leftover.
Dear Kathy, never fear, I am going to make that luscious cake again, it just didn't bake properly but it was easy to prepare and tried to come out right. If you even think about mentioning that you are suffering heat exhaustion...please, come to Michigan. We can do an exchange student sort of thing.
Dear Anne, I miss you very much. I hope all is well with you Howard and Erica.
Dear Carolyn, I hope the sun is shining right in your windows and that you and DH have plenty of amusements to keep you humming.
Dear Elza, The weather map showed an ice storm roaring your way. I hope the bank closes so you can stay inside, safe and sound.
If you find your way to my door I promise a cheerful fire in the fireplace, hot tea and warm friendship. Your very grateful hostess and friend, mary
We find ourselves in the midst of the Winter Storm that was predicted. Everything is shut down from schools to businesses to all social activities. So DH, yorkies and Bichon are all in and toasty warm. I am reading a series on the Kindle and downloaded the 3rd in the series last night at bedtime so that will be nice. Then we both enjoy certain TV shows. DH loves to take winter naps. So we will be fine until this blows over. Tonight DD is bringing in Pizza. I cook super all week and she brings something in on Fri. Nice to look forward to weekly.
Mary, I made my banana bread in a bundt pan last week by doubling the recipe. I sprayed the pan and did nt grease and flour as I usually do. Well, it was delicious but not pretty as the top stuck like Peanut butter does to the roof of one's mouth. It was eaten and enjoyed even if not photo perfect. Last night I made a peach cobbler that looked great and was delish, too. One never knows, but we keep cookin' anyway. lol
I have done not one thing this morning-still in Jammies. Feels good on this snowy morning anyway. No one will be visiting and I will not be going out sooooo what the heck!
Have a great day in the Son whatever you are choosing to do everybody. Carolyn
