Wow! How can Easter be a short week away! Goodness!!!

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and all for me and Chuck today. And thanks for Bday Greetings for him as well. It has been a very long day. I'd hoped to get a bday cake or some sort of dessert made for the 'Big Event'! But that just didn't happen. When we finally got home, I decided to sew my frustrations away. Working with fabric and creating something pretty has alwasy been therapeutic for me. Anyway, I am glad to put this day to bed. And speaking of which, I think I'd best crawl upstairs and put this aching body among soft, sweet smelling sheets!

Good Morning To All The Sisters and To My Two Special Sisters!!

 

This is going to be a very busy week for me.  Ron is going into the hospital Monday, March 24th for a prostrate gland operation.  I think it is pretty routine, but you tend to worry anyway.   The doctor said he performs 30-40 of these types of operations a month.  Next week is pretty hectic, but I am sure if we are busy, it will keep our mind occupied...mine anyway. LOL I am asking all of you to keep us in your prayers.

 

  I hope all the Sisters who are not feeling well, are up to par today!!! Mom and I had the crud for about a week and it is tough.

Mary, I will be praying for Ron~Of course we worry, don't we! Poor Guy! He sure has been through enough this past year!

Kay, belated Birthday to your ol hippie! I am so sorry I missed it!  I will be keeping him in prayer with his ears. How painful and frustrating! I have a friend that does the ear candle thingy~he swears by it.

Sheree, how is our little Isaak? I mentioned his big one year birthday the other day when I was wondering where you were. I hope all is well with you!

I don't have many Easter plans~this again is not the year for the kids to be here~so maybe we will find a place that is serving brunch and go for the day. We haven't been away and this sure has been a rough, long winter!

Yesterday I pulled one of my 'fits'~lol  I so desperately need cabinets and closets, and yesterday I was looking for a can of beans I KNEW I had tucked in a cabinet! I pulled all the canned goods out and put it in the middle of the floor~I told the ol hippie I was just going to leave it there so I could find it when I wanted it! He did agree because he was looking for a can of soup the other day and really made a mess and he knew it! SO, to make a long fight with him short, he agreed we needed some kind of cabinet for canned goods but wasn't up to making it..After all of these years, .I don't care if it is neon green and hangs from the ceiling! He went and bout an unfinished cabinet with lots of shelves~it is bigger in the kitchen than I really would have wanted but it is sure better than nothing!  I have been refinishing that and have one more coat this morning so I can get the canned goods off the floor~what a mess! It is bad enough for us to walk around but Gracie thinks they are all new toys for her!

Linda My closet is small also I try to keep my cans in some order but have given up since hubby seems to toss them all over the shelves.It is a pain and I am always rearranging them about once a week. Neon Green is a great color! LOL Glad to hear you got a new unit, got any spare space for some of my cans? :D

Redawna Those eggs are BEAUTIFUL, Ive always wanted to try doing that but I have no eye for designs beside they would all be shades of Red. lol

Well I went to the shower yesterday, I ended up getting a Food steamer inplace of the crockpot since I checked online before I went shopping and saw it was already bought for them. Now for a girl that doesnt cook she got alot of great kitchen items! I found out she doesnt cook at the shower and her Mom was asking who was going to give her lessons, I raised my hand "giggling"..... her Mom was happy..... but the Bride to be didnt look thrilled. hehehe I behaved as well as could be expected, there is alot of drama going on over this wedding. Mom and Step-Mom of the groom dont get along and I am caught smack dab in the middle, I was my charming self(LMAO) and made sure they knew I wasnt going to get caught in the middle! I had gotten a bag together to take to my Mom and noticed most was for my Dad so I whipped up some Orange, Walnut scones before the shower and but them in a cute box lined with NEON GREEN paper and tossed in some Dove carmel filled chocolates.

Easter plans????? I havent even gotten everything to cook for St.Pat's day yet, ok all I need is the lil red taters so I will run get them today. It might just be here but the corn beef seems expensive in my stores and I like to grab a few and toss them in the freezer so unless I find a good sale it wont be happening this year. I  saw on the food network a show called cooking with the nealy's(sp) they had a recipe on there for garlic lemon green beans I am thinking of trying this year for Easter dinner, so thats as far as I have gotten on the planning. Tuesday I will buckle down and figure the menu out and hopefully by then I will know who will be coming over for dinner. I do have the boy's basket ideas down, I wasnt going to do one for the oldest but when I was shopping I saw a 2 pack of French White baking dishes with lids and thought of a cute idea using them as their baskets since they have those casserole dishes on the wedding list.Since they are older I try to pick their favorite candy and then the big thing is something useful. I got my other son a new pair of sandles so it kind of works out money wise. My youngest(21) loves monkeys.... I  found some monkey dishes and I bought a set that includes a plate, bowl and glass..... my idea is to tier it and fill with candy,I am not sure how he will respond over this idea LOL Someone had better give me grand kids soon( married first tho) is all I am saying!

Well off to the store and I hope to BBQ today so I need to get a move on.

Good morning!

Wow, I'm exhausted.  I worked 6 days this week to catch up a bit from the lockdown and because I had to take time off to go to see my brother.  I didn't expect to be so tired.  Then when I went in to work yesterday, I was told I wouldn't be able to see any inmates at all because we were short of staff.  I whined and I begged and I pleaded, saying, "But I have to see some because all those who are going to school can only be seen on Saturday."  I cut my list in half, and only had one clerk come over.  My inmates all swear I have "juice" because I can get my way.  It helps that I always have a smile, plus I took in two batches of brownies yesterday . . . completely homemade , one batch with nuts and one without, both batches with chocolate frosting with a bit of mint extract.  I have to admit they were yummy brownies (recipe in the Taste of Home baking book).

DH is off "babysitting" an inmate in the hospital so my son and his family came over to stay with Genesy.   I told them we could go out for Mexican food for dinner, so that we did.  Ashley, my 4-year-old granddaughter, calls it eating Mexicans.    I let the kids choose which restaurant.  I won't go there again.  There were 3 or 4 wait staff and no one brought us water glasses until I asked for them.  My food did NOT taste good, and no one ever came back to refill our beverage glasses.  Nor did they bring the extra napkins I asked for (which should be something automatic when you have a 3 children).  When I was paying the bill, the owner was at the register.  She was also on the phone.  She asked me, "How was everything?"  I responded, "Oh it was okay I guess."  I handed her my card, and she finished up her conversation on the phone.  When she hung up, she asked me, "What was wrong?"  I tod her.  She handed me my card back and said, "Dinner is on us."  WOW!  $45 dinner FREE!!!

Oh, and I had bought a Chocolove chocolate bar recently, that was supposed to have crystalized ginger in it.   I couldn't taste any, so I emailed the company.  They emailed me back and said that sometimes happens, and they apologized . . . and yesterday I received TWO more bars in the mail which the lady promised me would have lots of ginger.  YUMMY!  I can't wait!

Most companies like giving good customer service.  While I have no desire to go back to the Mexican restaurant, I do plan to eat more Chocolove bars.  They make yummy chocolate!!! 

Today I plan to clean this house, spend some time with Genesy, finish up the laundry that Rick started, and bake some shamrock cookies with the cutters my SS sent.    I do not plan to leave this house!!!  Tomorrow I will work in Genesy's class, and I also have Brownies (for which I'm the leader).  It's the first NORMAL weekend I've had in a while!!!

Connie, you go girl!  I love writing to companies with good and bad about their products.  Now, I haven't heard of this Chocolove bar before.  It sounds interesting though.

I too am staying in today.  Some computer catch-up, some baking (I told one of the ladies at work I'd join her in making something for everyone tomorrow as a surprise)- I'll make the Pumpkin Pie Cake from Susie-Pumpkin's site, and recover from this awful flu I suffered through yesterday & last night.  I had the chills so badly I was wrapped up in an afghan & winter robe!  I do feel a LITTLE better today, but only if I make sure I take medicine to sooth the body aches & cough!  All my best to my SS's! Oh, this would be my EX-husband...

Sure does not seem that Easter is just a week away, not sure what I will be doing , have not heard if Wayne of Shawn either one will be be coming home for the day, I may go to Rose's she always fixes a very good dinner and watch the little ones hunt for Easter eggs.

she was kidding her DGD the other day and said we could get a lot of snow for Easter and she just looked at Rose with hand on hip and said "well that Easter Bunny had better throw them eggs out the window then cause I want to hunt outside not in the house"  little ones can be so cute,

Well, I am going to go ahead and put together a party in honor of Women.  I think this will be a lot of fun.  I'll keep you all informed.

DH just asked me what I have planned for vacation.  Vacation?  I didn't think we would be taking a vacation with school and working.  So, I am thinking about a week in Washington, DC.  I have not been. DH has twice, once as a teenager and them about 10 years ago with some of his fishing buddies.  So, I am going to begin researching our trip today, I am not sure when we will be going.

It's been another busy week here again this past week, with more coming up.  UGH!  I just can't WAIT to turn 85 and be able to sit in front of the window and watch the birds fly by all day and not have to apologize for doing it!  LOL  Until then I guess that I'll just plug along mumbling & grumbling the whole time.  Apparently it never gets old as I seem to do it quite regularly!  LOL

Heading to JoAnn Fabrics soon as I need to pick up some interfacing but want to be back home in time to watch the race.  "Drive fast & shop quick" will be the motto of the day I guess. 

We're enjoying gorgeous weather this weekend, well gorgeous for Minnesota that is.  Bright sunshine here today - just the way I like it!

I LOVE going to DC for vacations.  Unfortunately, we don't get to include a lot of walking in our vacations any more so am so glad that we did it while we could.  Just take comfortable walking shoes!  There is so much to see and do!

And it's 29 degrees here in sunny California . . . but the snow that was on the ground yesterday is melted.  What happened to SPRING???

 Some of our birds are coming back~another promise of spring! Lots of robins and TONS of those noisey blackbirds and crows~holee cow, the noise in the morning! lol

Susie9-Don't forget Julia Ward Howe! She was another one of my favorites...along with being an activist, she wrote the Battle Hymn of the Republic.  Also, Micki is our SS DC pro~she can give you lots of info! We took a couple DGD there a few years ago and stayed downtown in an really neat old hotel called the Harrington or something like that. Old fixtures, affordable and clean. It was only about two blocks from the White House and Washington monument~and in walking distance to WW11, Vietnam, and Lincoln Memorials...put on your walking shoes~lots of fun. We took a taxi to Arlington and it wasn't too expensive.  Another thing~if you are wanting to tour the WH or get a guided tour through the capitol, get in touch with your congressman...it takes quite awhile to get approval but it is well worth it...They had a lot of the buildings shut down for tours because of 911 but we managed to kill several days there!  Micki can tell you what to be sure to see and probably what would need prior approval...I think everyone should see DC at least once~what a neat place!  We had one issue with a homeless person~he was a SPITTER! I wish you could have seen the look on my DGD face~from then on, I made sure they didn't have the doorway side! geesh~

Well, my cabinet situation has grown...I painted some trim(and of course Gracie is covered with paint, the brat!), then found the border I was going to put up several years ago, etc. etc. etc.....I took down the curtains and washed them~THEY SHRUNK! Paulette, I need new gingerbread man curtains and there isn't any gingerbread man fabric in stock anywhere!  What do I DO! [:'(]

The cabinet is in place now and time to get the canned stuff out of the middle of the floor which was the original project~

Churched, fed and now trying to get rid of dear stepson's hot water heater... that he asked dad to help him haul to a recyling event yesterday (free) but they were toooooo late... so dad gets stuck with it.. and now has to dispose of it!  ... go figure.....kids, right?  lol... oh well..... at least it gave him time with his son!  hahaha...

Mary will be praying for Ron... and Kay.... happy late birthday to Chuck....

Linda... I feel your pain, sweetie... and how I LOVE your retriever rules.. you KNOW I am stealing that one!  How true is that... Doesn't everything belong in the mouth of our goldens?????  lool... Sure do love him but what a nuisance sometimes... but glad to have him around!
