  • I'm new, too.

Hi! I am new here, too. I was born here in the states but am very much into my scandanavian and german heritage.  I think this is a great group forum. It will give me great opportunities to learn new recipes and develop some traditions for my family. My husband is swedish, too.

So hi to all of you!

Welcome Miss Ivy.  Between Swedish & German cooking, it's hard to stay slender, lol.  I'm 100% Czech, DH is 110% Italian, so there's a real food combo as well.  Have two sons, 20 & 21, two doggies.  We're from Chicago, but now live in SE Wisc.

We normally have a discussion forum, please jump in!  lydia

    Hi Ivy,

Hope you will enjoy our group. We are a very active bunch of young and older ladies with mostly european background.

I was born and raised in Germany and one of the older ladies, but still very young at heart.

Come back often and just join in in our conversations.

Welcome to the German Corner. I have Swedish cookbooks and make a few things from them.----------- I am German and lived half my life there. As Erna says,we are some of the older people here on this Corner. Please come back and maybe tells us,which Swedish recipes you tried and liked. Renate

Thank you, all, for the warm welcome.  I have a couple of different cookbooks for mainly swedish and norwegian cooking, handed down by my mother and my mother in law.  I have made a couple of things out of them - my favorite is an apple cake in the norwegian one.  I do more german cooking then anything, mainly because it seems easier to find the recipes online and I am a computer dork!  Plus, I am cooking for several kids, ages 15-5. My kids are not particularly picky but they don't like fish - and alot of scandanavian cooking seems to involve fish! Go figure! But I will be around and will ask questions because I truly appreciate my heritage and would like to establish some traditions that involve food!

And luckily, I take after my swedish grandmother (long since deceased) and have managed to stay slender!  Don't ask me how - good genes, I guess!  It certainly isn't because I don't eat!

    Thanks again.
