On a lightly floured surface, unroll pastry. Transfer pastry to a 9-in. deep-dish pie plate. Trim pastry to 1/2 in. beyond edge of plate; flute edges. In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and cinnamon. Spoon into crust.

In another large bowl, whisk the pumpkin filling ingredients. Pour over apple mixture. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes.

For topping, combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly; stir in walnuts. Sprinkle over pie.

Bake 20-25 minutes longer or until a knife inserted into pumpkin layer comes out clean (cover edges with foil during the last 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning if necessary).

Cool on a wire rack. I was happy to read about you and it's always good to see another post from the German Corner coming back to life. Unfortunately this forum hardly gets used any more. There are still a few of us around but we spend most of our time in the "Recipes" forum. We've lost a few members in death and others have moved on so this poor forum doesn't see much action. I often come back to look for specific recipes as do the others, we're just posting more in Recipes than here. Sorry for this but I hope we will see you around the other forums. Have a great day!

Shannon

Forum Post: Re: Introduction

Hi Liz, I am getting back into geneology, baking, cooking, & knitting. I use to knit a bunch but stopped because I did not understand some of the patterns I tried out. Now everything has changed. I have joined several knitting sites and the video's just about walk you through any ole problem. We love to travel and have been to Europe three times. Planning on going back 2012. All of my cuz'ns are going to Sienna, Tuscany, and we are renting a villa. Should be so much fun. hugs, Carole Terese

Forum Post: Re: The Pressure's On

Bumping to the top... lol... It has some great recipes in here for the pressure cooker!!! I am on a hunt! :)

Forum Post: Re: Affectionate Cooking... Sorry about the formatting. I can't change it. Hope this helps. I actually made it for a New Year's Day party. In fact, my avatar is the cake. 2 C cake flour...... 1 tsp. baking soda..... 1/4 tsp. salt..... 2 squares baking chocolate, melted..... 1/2 C butter or shortening...... 1 1/2 C sugar..... 2 eggs.... 1 tsp. vanilla..... 1/2 C thick buttermilk..... 1/2 C boiling water................... Cream butter and sugar until fluffy........ Add eggs and vanilla......... Add cooled chocolate....... Combine buttermilk and water....... Combine flour, salt and soda.......... Add dry and wet alternately into egg, sugar, butter mixtur, ending with the flour....... Turn into two 8 inch round pans and bake at 350 for 27- 30 minutes or until cake springs back.
