Good morning!!! Coffee is ready!
Good Morning Mint and all other Rosies yet to fine their way here this am :)
I am off to lunch with my neighbor today. I will pack for our trip tomorrow, visit my Sis for a bit this afternoon and then collect Steve tonight at the airport ~
Thanks for the shot of 'Joe'!
"There is nothing to fear except the persistent refusal to find out the truth, the persistent refusal to analyze the causes of happenings." Dorothy Thompson, American Journalist and Author (1894-1961)
"There are three ingredients to the good life: learning, earning and yearning." Christopher Morley, American journalist (1890-1957).
Good morning! Today is day 7 that Emily is at my parents house and its the first time she has not wanted to come home already! I wonder if its because shes older and having such a wonderful time. The last few visits were different than the rest in that there was much less arguing amongst my sis and parents if any at all. She had a great time at the zoo - she rode a pony, fed the animals and more. Its good for my parents too - gets them out and about.
DH is working late tonight so its just me. I may go on a pickle run because we are in the single digits. We went to our friends house on Sunday and I brought them a quart of our pickles and they "marble ryed" them. If your a Seinfeld fan you'll know that means that they forgot to serve them. The funny thing is that we were already at their house and we brought a bottle of wine and we got to talking pickles since they were serving corned beef and since we live nearby, DH and I went and got some. We're not upset tho, they're very good friends and they are very generous with Emily and when they come to our house so no big deal. The only problem is that its gross and rainy out but I'd rather go on a pickle run by myself. We'll see.
Have fun on your trip Diana!
Have a great day ladies!
Stacy- I totally knew what marble ryed meant. lol
Pat- Happy belated b day to ken. sorry i'm so late.
Im sitting here eating my lunch at my desk. I picked up a south west salad and the dressing is kind of spicy.
Anything exciting going on in your life?
An update. Jim made it through the surgery; a partial hip replacement. Now they will be testing to see what is causing the weakness (I suspect the chemo) and also to see if the cancer is really in remission. One concern is if he gets pneumona as it is common with hip injuries because they are not able to move much in bed.
I am doing okay but still concerned about both Jean (my sister and Jim). I am working on my taxes, making some phone calls before the Board of Supervisors meeting on the 7th of April, and have to head to work here shortly.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Maryann: I'm glad to hear that Jim made it thru surgery OK and hope he doesn't incur the complications you are worried about.
I ran out in the rain and got the pickles. We went through nearly a gallon in 2 weeks!! Of course we gave a quart to our friends out of that. Silly me took the train home in the wrong direction but I realized it after just one stop so I got off and switched sides.
Good afternoon everyone.
Kelly's Mission: Clean out the bathtub. If you haven't done it in a while you may need to use a little cleanser. Most of the time soap on a rag will take care of it.
Laundry Room: Empty the trash can and replace the bag once you take out the used one.
Sorry I'm so late. DH had a Dr. appointment this am. and then I had to take him in to work, came home and waited for the friends to come in and measure for the safety bars in the bath tub. They went out and bought what they needed and came back and installed them. So glad to have that out of the way. Next is the tree guy and 9 Sweet Gums to go! This should take care of a LOT of the itchy balls in the yard.
Stacy - Sounds like Emily is having a ball! Yup, raining here too. Just enough to be dreary! Now you have me wanting a pickle. hehehe
Mary Ann - Glad to hear Jim did OK through the surgery. When DH had the total knee replacement he was up after 24 hours and he had the continuous motion machine on the leg sooner than that. You might be surprised how quickly they get Jim up to at least sit in a chair for a while. Hope your sister is coming along well.
Better get this posted and get back to the laundry. Also want to clean the bathroom. The workers did a nice job cleaning up but the screws went through tile and I want to know DH won't get slivers of glass when he goes for his shower tonight.
Have a wonderful evening.
A late check-in. I went to lunch at the Olive Garden with a friend of mine today. Just the usual soup, salad, and breadsticks, but it was yummy. Then I took DS#4 to the orthodontist. He found out the braces don't come off until the middle of June. Kinda bummed about still having them when he graduates. Was hoping they'd be coming off this month. I'm making sloppy joes and potato salad for supper. Easy, yet the boys love it.
Stacy, when I was a kid I would stay at my grandparents for 2-3 weeks at a time. Of course, they lived in the next state but I loved it. The grandparent-granchild bond is so special.
C&B, have a great trip and lots of fun!
Have a great Thursday!~~~Laura
Some days, I can literally see the testosterone floating in the air around here.
Laura, I used to stay at my grandparents for weeks at a time too and they only lived about a half hour away! I didn't want to come home either! They had a big dog too and spoiled us rotten! Olive Garden sounds good! I could go for a nice bowl of soup!
Does (or did) anyone have trouble getting their magazines, like Taste of Home?? I ordered it several months ago and still don't have it, they cashed my check too!!!!
