I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FAT SHOULD BE IN A SERVING OF GROUND TURKEY. IT IS HARD TO FIND IT WITHOUT ABOUT 10 GRAMS OF FAT. AND I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS GOOD OR BAD.J
This is from "Meat and Seafood Guide" with nutritional guideline by the US Dept of Agriculture:
"Ground Turkey is naturally dry because of its low fat content. To make a good burger or meatloaf, add liquid, such as eggs or broth, to the ground turkey. .... Turkey burgers are a delicious, low fat alternative to beef. Nutrition facts for a 3 1/2 oz. serving: callories 119, calories from fat 9, total fat 1g, saturated fat 0g, cholesterol 73mg, protein 26g, iron 1.3mg, sodium 48mg."
Hope this helps. I am guessing that if you purchase the ground turkey directly from a butcher, the fat content will be lower than if you buy it prepackaged, where it may have added fats to preserve the product.
