I'm getting rid of my large collection. tried to sell my old Taste of Home, Quick Cooking, Simple & Delicious mags on eBay and no takers. Does anyone know if the original issue of Taste of Home is worth anything? I have a Sept' 93 Taste of Home with NEW! on the cover (I don't think that's the original); a Premiere Collector's Issue of Light & Tasty (2 copies actually) and a Collector's Edition Quick Cooking from 2000. I at least thought someone would bid something on those (I didn't have any reserve price so any bid would have won it.) Oh well. I also have a bunch of mags from 1997 and up. Are they worth anything? Or should I just drop them off at a library?
Do a search on eBay for "Taste of Home magazine", then when the listings pop up, scroll down on the left hand side under "Show Only" and check where it says "Completed Listings." This will bring up all past sales (and no sales!) and will give you a good idea of what the going rates are. I noticed when I looked at this that the best sellers appeared to be some of the specialty issues and complete years' worth of magazines. Complete years looked to run between $12.95 and $15.95.
You could try craigslist, but a library might be your best bet if you can't sell them. Some hospitals and churches also have rummage sales where you might get some takers, too. Good luck!

You may be able to get a tax deduction if the magazines are donated to an organization that qualifies, such as an abused women's shelter, Salvation Army or Goodwill. I donated some others (not Taste of Home) to a high school's trade program, training girls to cook (home ec). If shipping were not such an issue, I think we'd all offer to buy them from you.... but, then most of us already have magazine collections of our own. Let us know how this turns out.

I volunteer at our church's resale shop and we rely on donations. We love it when magazines are donated. They are one of our biggest sellers. You might want to check out some resale shops for donating. You will be getting rid of them and the shop can benefit. Also, we do give tax receipts for your income tax.

Thanks for the tips! If anyone's interested in the premiere issues (I have 2 Quick Cooking premiere issues and 1 Taste of Home from 1993), let me know and I'll send them to you for postage. I feel like they should go to someone who really loves TOH! ;)
And I'll definitely give the rest to a church resale!
