I'm 37 and married with 3 kids. Originally I'm from Indio, CA, but moved to Arkansas in '95, and I love being an Arkie!!! When me and my hubby got together I couldn't cook Hamburger Helper without messing it up, but he had so much faith in me, even then he made me a deal, if I learned to cook he would do the dishes every night I made dinner. So I bought a cookbook, guess which one? and started one recipe at a time...now 13 years later there isn't anything I can't make, my kids are the least picky eaters ever, they eat everything! and best of all, I haven't done dishes in all that time!!
My greatest cooking triumph, would have to be my very first full thanksgiving dinner. I had only really started cooking about 4 months earlier, I was 1500 miles away from all my family for the first time, I was pregnant with #2 and it was just me, hubby and our 2 year old. I made a small turkey and small ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, twice-baked sweet potatoes, stuffed mushrooms, green-bean casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, and the crowning acheivement was duplicating my grandmother's stuffing. The turkey was juicy and everything was wonderful!!We had leftovers every night, but, I think that's when I realized everything was going to be okay, I had a man who believed I could do anything, the beginning of a wonderful family...and I could make my grandmothers stuffing!!!No matter what else happened, bad or good, I had what I needed.
Curried Pea Salad!! NO ONE would eat it!!!! Not even my husband, though he tried.
