I've been blissfully married to the same wonderful man for 30 years! We have 2 grown, married children, one very lovable and spoiled kitty kat named Casper and one very lovable spoiled Australian Shepherd dog named Sage. We live in the country where we're surrounded by wildlife of all kinds - deer, foxes, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, birds, raccoons, possums, turtles and skunks.
Making a beautiful loaf of homemade yeast bread when I was 14 years old. I was sooooo proud of myself and my family said it was delicious!
Several years ago I was trying to get a meal together in a hurry. The first thing I needed to do was to make a pitcher of tea. . . . . . .I had put a gallon-sized plastic pitcher 1/3 full of boiling water containing several tea bags on one of the back burners on my range top in order to steep it. About 15 min. later, I put a pot of water on the burner in front of the tea pitcher and turned it on to HIGH; about 20 seconds later, I began to hear a sizzling sound along with the acrid smell of burning plastic. Immediately I knew I had mistakenly turned on the wrong burner - the one beneath the plastic pitcher! My first reaction was to grab the pitcher off the burner. When I snatched the pitcher by the handle, the bottom of it remained stuck to the burner, while all that brown "tea" water ran beneath my stove top and under some cookbooks - what a mess!!! Thankfully, the tea had not yet been sweetened or it would have been a much bigger, sticky mess to clean up. As it was, it was only flavored water. I certainly learned my lessons from that disaster: 1. Haste makes waste. 2. Never place a plastic container on an electric stove top burner!
A lot more goes into preparing a meal than simply the measuring, stirring, cooking, etc. There also needs to be lots of love for those for whom you are cooking. Even if it's a simple meal, it will be memorable.
