In my mid-40's now, my "baby" just turned 18. Hubby and I live in WV where he is in law-enforcement and I work for Uncle Sam. Our 3 oldest children are married and moved away and each have children. (We have 4 grandchildren all together). We're entering the time in our lives where we're starting to plan our retirement and our "golden years". Though I no longer have to do as much cooking for the family, I still enjoy cooking and attend a LOT of pot lucks where I'm always testing out and trying new foods. I love to cook, but must keep it simple! Complicated ingredients and procedures don't appeal to me or my lifestyle. Life is too short to spend *ALL* your time in the kitchen! :)
A single event?? I'm not sure I can name one. Just surviving the years of cooking for a large family where everybody had their own differening preferences in foods is what I consider to be my biggest accomplishment. And managing to please them all.....eventually (but rarely ever simulataneously!)....sigh....
Can't think of just any one occasion. Unless you want to count my biscuits....they're almost always a disaster.
Good eating doesn't have to be complicated! This board has brought that home to me better than anything. We have some amazing cooks here, and I am grateful for everyone of you for your generous sharing of your kitchen secrets. The kitchen truly is the heart of a home!
