I am an elderly, heavy set, arthritic, balding, old woman. I get cranky very often but I laugh a lot too. I have permanent laugh lines that no amount of camouflage will hide. My biggest battle right now is against smoking. I am still recouperating from medical problems. I am slow, but I insist on carrying on. Everybody else keeps insisting I don't. I love cooking, but because my hands don't work too well, I need help from others to do those things that we all do continuously, like opening cans, lifting a cook pot, or opening a jar. I can type real well, except for the numbers that creep in because my fingers won't bend, but I know what I tried to say. I retired a long time ago but my DH says I still think I'm in charge.
It only took me six years to get a meal cooked that my mother-in-law didn't tell me was wrong. I thought it was a triumph. It took my eldest daughter 11 years to get hers done and approved. It was a Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding. Actually my mil said it was too rare and she didn't care much for Yorkshire Pudding. By the time I got to eat the puddings were gone, and the rare meat had vanished. She scarfed it up like she hadn't seen it before.
I was making a stuffing for a chicken I was going to roast for my folks. I thought I had bread crumbs to add to the stuffing I had put together before adding it to the bird, but instead I had grabbed the browned flour. That had to be the ickiest stuffing ever. My mom is now almost 90 but she still hasn't forgotten about it.
Share a smile, it doesnt cost a dime but it can bring so much to someone who has too little.
