I am a Navy wife living in Naples, Italy. We're "honeymooning" here, as we got married 11 days before he got shipped off!! We adopted a stray dog (a chihuahua/pug/? mix) and she was pregnant, so we now have her, Sissy Britches La-La ChaCha and her daughter Indy ChaCha Doodle Pants. I am active in my church on base and with an organization called Protestant Women of the Chapel. My husband and I lead a Bible study at our home every week and I love trying out new Taste of Home recipes on our group! They love it, too.
Last year was my first Thanksgiving dinner and I was separated from my mom by nine time zones! Everything turned out wonderfully though, from the perfectly golden turkey to mom's sausage dressing!
My husband likes to put bottle of coke in the freezer to cool them quickly... I once found a bottle in the freezer that was more than cool. In fact, it EXPLODED all over me and the kitchen!
I love this quote by Rumi: Be a lamp, a lifeboat, or a ladder. God has gifted me with a love of cooking and I hope that in my own way I can be a help to others. I love to cook for the single sailors who are here in Italy, far away from mom's meatloaf, stuffed peppers, or chicken soup. I try to bring a little bit of their hometown here to Italy.
