One of my many nicknames is "The Grand Inquisitor" because I'm always asking questions. I always ask out of sincere curiosity so I apologize in advance if I inadvertently offend. I exist quite a ways out of the mainstream, so if I come across as "weird", well, that's because I AM weird. We're ALL weird to someone, so it doesn't bother me in the least.
Spaced out in the middle of a very basic recipe and added baking powder instead of baking soda. Caught my error before baking the cookies and then decided to "wing it" to correct the obvious textural problems. Then I got really, really creative and started throwing things in the batter just because I could. I ended up with the BEST cookies ever! I'm still playing with that particular mistake!
Invited a bunch of people over for an after work, Friday night dinner back when I worked in the computer industry. We had just finished a major project and I wanted my entire regular team and my special project team over for a nice meal, some wine, etc. Did all my prep the night before, salads, appetizers, etc. The next morning, I loaded my main dish into three slow cookers, turned the dials to low and went to work. Got home 10 hours later with 15 people in tow only to find out I'd forgotten to plug in the stinkin' slow cookers! The sides and salad were good, though. So were the pizzas we ended up ordering.
