I'm a young grandma with 2 grown kids and 3 grandkids. I'm married to a wonderful "teddy bear" of a guy who treats me like a queen. My husband and I are active in our church and part of the church leadership. I am in charge of our church kitchen and I am responsible for cooking for large crowds several times a year as well as coordinating "pot-luck" style meals. Additionally, my husband and I have a ministry in our church where we coordinate meals and other types of help during times of "crisis" for our church members and their friends and families.
I have too many to list being "the" cook for our church events, but an especially enjoyable recent event was a Mother's Day High Tea complete with several different tea sandwiches, tea cakes, sherbet and Earl Grey tea!
My first Thanksgiving dinner that I cooked for my husband included sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top. Apparently, I put too many marshmallows on top! My husband and I smelled a burning smell coming from the kitchen. When we rushed to the kitchen and opened the oven, the oxygen rushing into the oven caused the marshmallows that were falling from the casserole to briefly burst into flames!! We pulled out the oven rack and blew the flames out. In silence, we turned to look at each other and started laughing out loud!! We had a mess to clean up, but we sure had fun eating the toasted marshmallows off the oven door!!
