My Greatest Cooking TriumphMy Greatest triumph would have to be when I won Three Blue Ribbons for my pie making at the Minnesota State Fair, three years in a row! I also won a Blue Ribbon for a cookie recipe as well. I enjoy entering my local County Fair with baked goods when I have time too. I have many ribbons from fairs and it never gets old to see that ribbon hanging on your baked product! Always a thrill!
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterUsing the wrong leavening agent. I was making cookies and accidently used baking soda instead of baking powder in the recipe. The cookies were terrible!! That's what happens when you are in a hurry!
My Food For ThoughtAlways take time out to bake or cook in your life. There is such a great pleasure in knowing you created something wonderful to eat. Take time to teach your kids the recipes you love so they can also make cooking and baking a big part of their life and their future families. People are not cooking from scratch much anymore and its almost becoming a lost art. If you love to make Jam, can veggies, bake, cook, etc...make sure you pass that on to the next generation so its not lost. I am creating a cook book for my daughter and sons (don't forget you boys!) and a cook book of all my favorite Christmas recipes to be preserved. I make a huge list every year of Christmas cookies and bake a month ahead and give cookie trays out to all my friends. I have friends tell me they look forward to that cookie tray all year long! Whatever you like to do, enjoy the time you take to do it!
My InterestsI of course love to bake, and collect recipes. I also love to read, do cross-stich, travel, go boating and fishing, antiquing, exercise DVD's, walking the dog, spending time with my family and my Mom. I also like to clean and organize! I know that's weird, but I like to tackle a mess and see the end result.
