About Me
No profile added.
I took a food prep class in high school, and got interesting in cooking desserts. I used to make Lemon Meringue Pie and Key Lime Pie from scratch but my family was only willing to eat it so many times in a month. I eventually went back to reading books instead of cooking. I’ve never been fond of cooking meals, and have always been happiest getting in and out of the kitchen quickly. But now I'm rooming with a friend from high school who took the food prep class with me. And she found this cake on a menu one day, told me to make it, and I did. It took three hours, but it was well worth it and tasted better than the restaurant version. We’ve decided to alternate who cooks dinner when we’re not working. I still prefer to make desserts and can always find five to six dessert recipes to print to every one or two meal recipes I’m willing to try to make. But there are some interesting recipes out there…and I think I’m actually having fun…
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
I'm proudest of the pies I made in high school, since I made everything from the crust to the filling to the meringue from scratch. More recently, though, I'm rather proud of myself for making that three hour cake not once but actually twice in about the last year. It's been long enough since I've done any actual cooking that I'm surprised I managed to make the custard layer at all. Apparently the skills are dusty, but still there!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
Frozen pizza actually...twice. Did you know you have to remember to remove the cardboard before you cook it? Oops. It even says so on the directions...
My Food For Thought
It's fun to watch someone cook who can randomly throw things together and make something edible. It's even more fun to watch them add odd things to a botched recipe you made and somehow make it edible enough for them to finish it. Me? I saw what you put in it; no thanks!
