When I was 13 yrs. old I made my first complete Thanksgiving Dinner for 18 friends & family... I even made the 3 pies and crust from scratch... I made a beautiful, colorful relish tray with fresh radishes, green onions, gerkins, carrot sticks, celery sticks, dill spears, black olives, green olives stuffed w/pimento. The day before I cut up day old bread into little cubes to toast under our broiler for the stuffing I made for our turkey. We had mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, green beans with mushrooms & onion, pickled beets, turkey giblet gravy (my mom helped me with this so it wouldn't be lumpy) buttered corn, fresh tossed salad... I even whipped fresh heavy cream to top my pumpkin, chocolate and butterscotch pies. My grand-ma brought fresh yeast dinner rolls that were so delicious we had hot tea, fresh brewed hot coffee and iced tea for our beverages.
