I grew up not really having any cooking skills other than remembrances of how my mother did things. I was not always able to duplicate her wonderful skills until I started getting "Taste of Home" at my salon. I began trying recipes and next thing I know I had the cooking bug. My clients often get to try baked goods and other goodies. They don't have to ask any more where I get my recipes. It is a favorite magazine in my salon.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
One year I decided to try an elegant looking Christmas cookie. It was a hit first time out of the oven. Every year I make 15-30 dozen for gifts and they are well received! I've given the recipe to others and they don't seem to be able to get it quite right and will wait to get them that one time each year that I make them!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
Once I made a huge dish of cherry cobbler from cherries picked from a tree in the front yard. When it was done, I removed it from the oven forgetting to put on oven mitts. Needless to say the dish went flying and my kitchen was covered with cherries and a sticky mess!
My Food For Thought
Never give into defeat. When you think you've failed, you're one step closer to perfection.
