My Greatest Cooking TriumphTwo years ago, I made a special Homecoming dinner for my 16-year-old daughter (at the time; she's a college freshman now) and 11 of her friends. Instead of going out to a restaurant, they each paid five dollars for prime rib, baked mashed potatoes, peas, salad, warm rolls and a beautiful chocolate bundt cake for dessert. My younger daughter and her two friends were the "waitresses." The Homecoming dancers enjoyed themselves tremendously, and I had a wonderful timing serving them.
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterActually it's a non-cooking incident, but many years ago I had wanted to run my dishwasher but was out of detergent. So I simply squirted some dishwashing liquid into the reservoir and turned the machine on. Within minutes, my entire floor was covered with about six inches of foam, which totally freaked the cat out (and me, too). I also learned that if you put your Thanksgiving turkey on the grill outside to keep it warm, you should make sure to take it out of the plastic roasting bag first!
My Food For ThoughtHere are three, courtesy of my mother, Pat Cassidy:

-- it's the little things that count
-- don't let others form your impressions for you
-- when God closes a door, he opens a window
