My Greatest Cooking TriumphI have had my recipes published in Taste of Home for: Cranberry Nut Bread, Citrus Iced Tea & Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake. I also submitted my recipe for Dairy Kugel in the 1996/1997"Oodles of Noodles" cooking contest for Taste of home! It didn't make THAT contest, BUT it won honorable mention in the companion cooking contest for Country Extra in May 2002! I won a cookbook & was sent a complimentary issue of Country Extra 2002! I was thrilled! I've also had some times published in what is now Simple & Delicious & my cranberry bread recipe had been put in Best-Loved Recipes to celebrate the
20th year of Taste of Home! I also submitted a blurb for leftovers in 2002/2003 for using leftover cooked veggies in a marinated vegetable salad!
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterI made a maple chiffon cake and it didn't come out of the pan! (1977) In 1978, I made a cheesecake for my father's birthday and it fell upside down all over the kitchen floor!
My Food For ThoughtMy Food For Thought: Don't be afraid to experiment with recipes! I have learned so much from Taste of Home and I have found that these recipes have expanded my repertoire with my baking & also with cooking! I've tweaked a # of the recipes which I'd tried from Taste of Home and noted the adjustments on that particular recipe! As long as suitable substititions are available, that is important! I've also adjusted the oven temperatures at times as well as the baking time(s)! Note that when using that particular recipe! That way you know exactly what to do the next time you use that recipe!
My InterestsI am a volunteer at the local hospital several days a week. I was recently told on 5/13/13 that my application was approved to become a new field editor! 0f course I LOVE to bake and cook! Baking IS more of an interest to me! I bake for our chapel, for the volunteer resource office at the hospital and for one of the depts. which I work in. I also bake treats
for my cardiologist/office staff! I also enjoy making candies-I use these candy wafers from the A.C.Moore Craft store & basically use a teaspoon to make clusters, but I've also used these Make & Mold candy molds from time to time!
