I am a 44 yr mother of 3 children. I have a 21 year old daughter in College, a 17 yr. old son in his jr yr of high school and a 9 year old son! The Lord has a sense of humor! Atleast at my age and my youngest son's age, we will never have empyty nest syndrome to worry about! They are the light of my world. I gave up teaching high school 19 years ago to take a job with the United States Postal Service and it was a fantastic move. I have been a Postmaster for the last 10 years. I really enjoy my job! I was a rural mail carrier before becoming a Postmaster! I have been married to the same wonderful man for 22 years. He loves my cooking and so do my children! I love cooking for them!
After my mom died 10 years ago, it became my responsibility to carry on our family tradition at Christmas time. My family comes to my house on Christmas eve and I cook a huge Christmas Supper for them including a huge turkey and my mom's recipe for chicken and dressing. Growing up, I helped her in the kitchen all of the time, but I never actually cooked the dressing until she passed away. I use all of her recipes for cakes and pies that she had actually hand-written down for me when I got married. I treasure the recipes, because they were hers, and they were tried and true, and because they are in her handwriting!
When I first got married, I tried to make "hot water cornbread" for my husband! He really likes hot water cornbread and I wanted to make it for him! It was horrible. It came out flat and hard and I remember trying to get the dog to eat it and even he couldn't get it down!! We still laugh at the memory.
Always put Christ FIRST in your life, then your family, and HE will always take care of you and make a way! Because of HIM...Penny
