My Greatest Cooking TriumphTaking family faves and tweaking for our needs today. Love chicken, pork, fish and beef. All veggies. Even tried okra and love that (sort of a combination asparagas and gresh green peas flavor).
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterHaven't had any since 1965. Made a roasted chicken which my new husband innocently asked if I planned to cook it.
I guess I didn't know it took an hour. Or I had the temp too low. If I didn't apply for an annulment that day...I guess we'll be together forever.
My Food For ThoughtExperimenting with canning and dehydrating with everything.
Never surrender to defeat. Keep on trying till you're all happy. Referring to the above roasted chicken...these days I cook it for 1 hour 30 minutes at 365 degrees. I do notice, however, that even at that temp and timing the joint still looks pink. I've been told that once frozen it will do that because of some scientific reason. It's cooked already!
Revel in your successes and build on it. Learn from your mistakes and learn from them.
My InterestsI have MS so I study and adjust for that. Support groups are great for everybody if it works for you. Food, preservation, experimentation with all I do. Gardening of herbs, veggies and fruits and berries. Just finished with blackberries frozen since picking. Another haul of blackberries jam and jelly. (From wild blackberries that grow on barbed wire surrounding our property. Pick very carefully.)
