I am 52 years old. I am from Phoenix AZ, but have also lived in WV and NC at various times. I was married for almost 25 years. My husband, who was from Brevard NC area, died in 2005. I work full time for the post office and part time as an RN. I am also the pianist and parish nurse for my church. I have two dogs and one kitten. I have no children. I do have a brother who lives in TN and an adopted brother who lives in IN. I love to cook and bake and share what I make with friends and family.
One of the best ones is when I made M_Wolverine's Chili Verde Enchiladas and took them up to my pastor's house. They loved them so much they said I could be an honorary Mexican (LOL)!
My biggest kitchen disaster is when I was working in a cafeteria of a small college in NC. I was making jello for the cafeteria line. I opened the institutional size box of jello and there was a huge bug in it. So rather than pouring the jello in the trash, I poured it down the sink. It got cold that night and the jello jelled in the pipes and the plumber had to come out and re-pipe the sink. What was I thinking?
When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!

I serve this smooth, fluffy salad all year for special meals, but it's so pleasant around Eastertime with its pretty color and fruity flavor. The apricot pieces are an unexpected treat. — Ellen Benninger, Stoneboro, Pennsylvania

Our Test Kitchen combined tender strips of beef and fresh vegetables to come up with this delicious skillet dish.

  • Festive Ham 'n' Cheese Spread

"My family goes wild over this mild-tasting, hearty cheese spread," comments Cara Flora of Olathe, Colorado.

  • Grandpa's Party Potatoes

This casserole from Mary Kay Elert of St. Paul Park, Minnesota will please even the pickiest eaters. "My grandpa, who gave me the recipe to me, liked the way the cream cheese and onion dip created a wonderful velvety texture. I often assemble it the night before, then pop it in the oven the next day," she details.
