About Me
No profile added.
I am 55 years old. I am from Phoenix AZ, but have also lived in WV and NC at various times. I was married for almost 25 years. My husband, who was from Brevard NC area, died in 2005. I worked for the post office full time for almost 27 years until Oct 31, 2011. I worked part time as an RN for most of the past 13 years while also working at the post office. I retired from the post office on Oct 31, 2011 and am working 3 (12 hour) shifts a week at the hospital, which seems like semi-retirement to me. I am also the pianist and parish nurse for my church. I have two dogs and one cat. I have no living children (had multiple miscarriages). I do have a brother who lives in TN and an adopted brother who lives in IN...I also have a slew of cousins and an aunt and uncle in the Parkersburg WV area and a slew of inlaws in the NC/SC border area near Brevard NC. I love to cook, bake, and share what I make with friends and family. Was finally able to visit WV again for the first time in nearly 30 years last June. It was wonderful! If I had thought of it sooner, I would have chosen the screen name CookingSherry (for obvious reasons), but it seems a little late 7 years after the fact LOL. I still like gratefulservant though, so I am ok with that! I was also able to spend a week in HI with my brother's family in June 2012. It was awesome!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
One of the best ones is when I made M_Wolverine's Chili Verde Enchiladas and took them up to my pastor's house. They loved them so much they said I could be an honorary Mexican (LOL)!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
My biggest kitchen disaster is when I was working in a cafeteria of a small college in NC. I was making jello for the cafeteria line. I opened the institutional size box of jello and there was a huge bug in it. So rather than pouring the jello in the trash, I poured it down the sink. It got cold that night and the jello jelled in the pipes and the plumber had to come out and re-pipe the sink. What was I thinking?
My Food For Thought
Give thanks with a grateful heart!
My Interests
Crocheting, reading, sewing, playing piano, scrapbooking and recipe scrapbooking, collecting recipes/cooking/baking, various church activities, swimming, playing with my dogs (and occasionally the cat if she condescends to let me)
