I am a 34 year old wife and mother of two daughters. I wear many hats and have many interests. I love to cook and I enjoy learning tricks of the trade and trying new recipes.
Becoming a good cook at all. My mother wasn't a very good cook and I grew up eating hamburger helper and other boxed meals. When I got married I couldn't boil water but because we were poor we had to eat at home and be creative with our choices. My husband (bless his heart) always complimented every dish (no matter how disgusting it was) and so I was never disheartened in the kitchen. Over time and many, many failed attempts, I am now confident in the kitchen and a pretty good cook to boot.
There are too many to count and thankfully forgotten as soon as I was done cleaning up.
Let's bring back the Victory Garden. With environmental awareness becoming all the rage, it is just another way to do our part. By growing some of our own food we not only lessen the stress on the environment, we also become more sustainable in our actions. Let's face it, the food just plain tastes better too!

  • Adams County Apple Cake

Our part of Pennsylvania is known as "Apple Country". This cake is one of my family's favorites. It's great for a lunch box treat.

  • Appetizer Tortilla Pinwheels

A friend out in Arizona gave me this recipe, and whenever I serve these pretty and delicious appetizers, people ask me for the recipe, too! Most of my Midwestern friends say that they have never tasted anything like them. Besides being attractive and tasty, the pinwheels can be made ahead of time and sliced just before serving, leaving you time for other last-minute party preparations.

  • Baked Corn Pudding

Here's a comforting side dish that can turn even ordinary meals into something to celebrate. A Yuletide favorite with our entire family, it spoons up as sweet and creamy as custard. Guests give it rave reviews and always ask for the recipe. -Peggy West Georgetown, Delaware

  • Butternut Squash Bake

For a side dish with harvesttime appeal, you can't go wrong with this savory squash bake. It's creamy, comforting and looks pretty, too, thanks to the rich yellow butternut squash and golden crumb topping. -Bertha Johnson, Indianapolis, Indiana
