About Me
No profile added.
My husband and I have been married 37 years and have two grown sons, a lovely daughter-in-law and a brand new granddaughter born New years Day! We live in Minnesota, in a suburb of St. Paul/Minneapolis. I am a Registered Nurse and I work part time as an Operating Room Nurse. My husband works as a Mechanical Engineer. I travel every year to Lima, Peru on a medical mission with plastic surgeons to repair cleft lips and palates on children.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Being a runner-up in Taste of Home's recipe contest! I was so excited! Later, I won a 3rd place and $200 and then another runner-up and $25.00! I couldn't believe they wanted to PAY me for my recipe! I framed the recipes and hung them in my kitchen. I have 5 recipes published in Reman Magazines.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
I was about 13, and my mother was in the hospital. I had been cooking all the meals- mostly sandwiches. One evening , I decided to surprise everyone and make a tuna hotdish (we lived in Minnesota). I followed my mothers recipe to the letter, including the TWO TABLESPOONS OF PEPPER! Of course no one could eat it, it was too hot. We had sandwiches again that night! Later, we went to visit my mother at the hospital. I was still crying when I told her I had followed the recipe exactly! She then told me the two tablespoons of pepper was two tablespoons of CHOPPED GREEN PEPPER!
My Food For Thought
Life is too short! Have more fun because "Everyday Is A Holiday"! We celebrate every holiday we can think of in our home and I make the food to go with it. We celebrate King Kamehameha Day on June 11 with Pineapple Glazed Porkchops, Bob Marley's Birthday on February 6 with Jerk Chicken, Mexican Independence Day on September 16 with Chicken Fajitas, and many many more. I try to make life FUN!
