Cooking has been a great experience and challenge that I really enjoy even as my husband and I have settled quite comfortably into our "empty nest".
One year I won the chili cook-off at school.
I tried a new slow cooker recipe that included rice and even though I followed the recipe the rice completely ruined the dish by becoming gooey and sticky. Yuck! And naturally it was a potluck dish for church. It had to be thrown away and I never tried the recipe again.
Do not give up in the kitchen. Enlist help from someone you really love, try simple, five ingredient recipes, and/or get a few cookbooks from the library, until you find out whether baking or cooking or both is your niche. When you find your comfort zone have fun!
