IF YOU like carrots, here's a great recipe. It's easy to prepare and healthy. My mother made it every holiday, using either regular or golden raisins. This was one of the first recipes I tried on my husband when we were newlyweds. He was skeptical because he didn't like raisins, but now this is one of his favorite salads. -Marlene Reilly, Nescopeck, Pennsylvania
My mom has been making this cake for 30 years. Dotted with chips and topped with a chocolate glaze, it is absolutely divine, I once got up at 5 a.m. to bake a cake before work so the ladies in my office could enjoy it warm from the oven. They loved it! Michelle Strunks Brookville, Ohio
My husband, Bob, and I like basic hearty meat-and-potatoes meals. This old family favorite really fits the bill...and does it often. Its sweet/sour flavor adds a deliciously different twist to this longtime standby! I hardly ever make "plain" meat loaf anymore. You may not, either, once you've taste this one.
Meet the Cook: To vary these squares, you can substitute cheddar cheese for the Swiss or try Canadian bacon in place of the ham. However you can make them, they taste wonderful reheated in the microwave. So you can serve the squares warm as leftovers, pack them in a thermal lunch carrier or put them on a potluck table. -Nancy Foust, Stoneboro, Pennsylvania
