My Greatest Cooking TriumphMy greatest cooking triumph would have to be: I get asked for a lot of my recipes, and I gladly share them. But I really felt I was a good cook when my husband's grandfather, who was a man of VERY few words, asked that I make my potato salad for the Family Reunion.. of course it's known as Grandpa Vic's Potato Salad. He's been gone for many years now. Every time I make that Potato Salad I think of him.
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterWell, it wasn't exactly my own,but it is a classic. One Thanksgiving many years ago. My husband and I would have to make "the rounds" to see our families on the holidays. His parents, each set of our grandparents, and so on. Finally we would come back to our house and have dinner. One Thanksgiving my Mom came to watch the turkey as we made our rounds. When we got home,I found my Mother sitting at the edge on our couch with the dish towel in her hands. I casually asked if the Turkey was done. Her reply was,"OH It's done alright!" She had pulled the oven rack out too hard and the Turkey went flying everywhere. It landed on the Kitchen floor. After finishing to help clean up Turkey and stuffing,we sat down to dinner. Good thing I always make Ham too :)
