About Me
No profile added.
Love to try new things: new recipes, places, roads not taken...I love to read old cookbooks and try recipes from family, community, or church recipe collections. I love to show the love I have for family and friends by making them wonderful things to eat.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Was asked at the last moment (day before event) to cater a company Christmas party for 40. Planned, shopped, and prepared the entire menu, which included appetizers, side dishes, entrees (including 3 prime ribs, 2 turkeys, and 2 hams), and dessert, which I decorated with the company logo. Went off without a hitch and everyone was thrilled.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
I was in the sixth grade and my mother had taken my brother to the doctor for tests and they were going to be gone all day. I decided to make clam chowder, which is a family favorite. I followed my grandmother's recipe to a "T" and eagerly waited for everyone to get home. Imagine my shock when everyone's faces got strange looks after the first bite...I had accidentally used sweetened condensed milk rather than evaporated! All that work for nothing. I probably would have cried if we all hadn't started laughing hysterically. For years family would ask about my "sweet chowder"!!!!!!
My Food For Thought
Better to try something new, whether it's a recipe or a new experience, than to be afraid to try for fear of failing.
