I'm a new grandmother and still parenting 2 active teens, one an adventurous eater and one a very cautious (I promised him I wouldn't say "finicky") eater. I don't often get to shape our family dinner, though, as my husband really likes both grocery shopping AND cooking. (what can I say? he's a gem) I work at Country Woman magazine, and he's been happy for the new source of recipes.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Thanksgiving dinner, a tradition I inherited from my mother-in-law and was really nervous about tackling. Fortunately, DH insists on overseeing the turkey/dressing. But the roasted sweet potatoes with red onions, the steamed green beans with nutmeg, the orange-cranberry sauce, the fluffy mashed potatoes and the to-die-for pumpkin cheesecake—those are all mine, mine, mine. :)
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
My two sisters never let me forget the time I was babysitting them and made orange Kool-Aid and forgot to add sugar. And no, it wasn't the presweetened variety. Blech.
