About Me
No profile added.
I was born in Chicago into a family of great home cooks, but I was the first to make a profession of the love of cooking. I am a retired personal chef who trained at the Cordon Bleu in London. I also taught at the school and worked for a book publisher and a magazine in London, writing recipes and doing food styling. Once I came back to the U. S. A., I moved to N. C. I started up as a personal chef and wrote a cooking feature for a local magazine. Now that I've retired and moved to northern Virginia, I still can't stop cooking, but just do it for family and friends.
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
When I was a student at the Cordon Bleu, my cooking partner was sick one day and couldn't come to class. So, in my first few weeks of training, I cooked our whole four course meal in two hours all by myself.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
I was having a dinner party and my cold souffle dessert was sitting on the kitchen counter. It was beautifully decorated with the edge covered in cream and nuts. Obviously my cat, Harvey, thought it looked delcious, too, because when I went into the kitchen to carry it to the dining room, he had licked off all the cream from around the edge. I had to do some fast renovation and restoration!
My Food For Thought
Food is more than just nutrition and nourishment. Food is memories--of friends, family and favorite vacations. Food is a history book and photo album rolled into one.
My Interests
I garden and belong to my local garden club. My husband and I also enjoy all the activities that the Washington, D. C. area offers and love to travel the country to new places.
