I have lived in Tennessee all of my life and live just about a 5 minute drive from where I grew up. I've been married for nearly 28 years and have one child, a daughter that I am very proud to have raised. She is in her first year of graduate studies at age 24 (astrophysist). I work full time as a secretary and help out my disabled mother so I don't have a lot of free time. My dh and I bought and refurbished the home that we live in about 12 years ago. We didn't intend in the beginning for it to become such a big project, but the house was built in the 1920's so when we finished one task, we would begin another one. Thankfully, we got most of the work done before we moved into it. We are very proud of the way it turned out even though it was a lot of hard work.
Since I work full time it has been challenging at times to provide home cooked dinners to my family. Meals were especially difficult during the years when our dd was younger and was involved in a lot of activities. I always attended whatever activity she was involved in so dropping her off was never an option for me.In those days I relied a lot on the crock pot and we loved having dinner ready when we were ready to eat. I had some standby foods that I could prepare pretty quickly and always kept ingredients on hand.
I don't recall any specific disasters. Though I admit I have had some issues in the past with candy making. My family has no problem eating candy with a spoon or eating chocolatey concoctions over ice cream or cake. Usually tastes just as good if you eat it with a spoon.
It is good to have an open mind but not so open your brain falls out!
