For 5 years I have hosted a Toys for Tots luncheon. Each year I bake 50 dozen cookies. Everyone would bring a covered dish and and a toy. I would provide the cookies. We usually gathered 500-700 toys. One year, we even got over 700 toys.
A Tamale Pie. The recipe said that the cornbread topping would sink, but would raise to the top as it baked. It didn't riase, it didn't bake, it just laid there. I put it outside for the dogs. I guess they couldn't eat it either, because everytime they got near, they would run away as fast as they could.
I don't ever want anyone to leave my house hungry. We have attended several partys and functions, that we had to stop and eat on the way home.
