About Me
No profile added.
I have started an interest in cooking in my late 20's, and absolutley love it (though I started baking at age 11). I love creating something new, serving to my husband who loves most everything, and throwing dinner parties for couples, groups, and office parties. My ethnicitry is Bengali, so I like to add spices and sesonings to traditional american dishes as well... in moderation, of course!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
My husband had invited 12-15 people from the weight watchers group for a dinner party. I gathered recipes, set out placecards with point systems, and served several dishes from appetizers to entrees, and finally desserts. Everyone loved the food, and kept asking me how I did it, since I am not a member and did not know much about them. My secret? All recipes (except my vergetable lasagna) was from their website!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
Quite a few years back, when I was still new at Thanksgiving dinners, I had not completely thawed out a 22 lb. turkey. After several hours and based on cooking time, I took turkey out of oven hoping to serve to my family but oce took the first slice, quickly noticed it was still frozen inside! It took an additional two hours to cook. Fortunatley, the turkey was still moist and flavorfull, and my family was patient and loved the dinner!
My Food For Thought
I love what food can do for people. I love watching guests enjoy something that I have prepared just for them. I believe hospitality is innate, and learned early on, and once learned, it's in you forever. Like many others who learned from a mother or grandmother, my role model is definitely my mother. I have yet to cook and serve like her!
