About Me

I love to cook! I spend most of my free time looking for and trying out new recipes. And whenever I can, I love to "play" in the kitchen with my 4 kids!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Thanksgiving Turkey! Soon after our 1-month wedding anniversary, my husband's boss gave us a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving. I had never prepared a Turkey in my life nor had my grandmother who raised me. I searched through tons of cookbooks at our public library looking for just the right recipe, but I still wasn't sure which one to use. I ended up calling one of my aunts for advice. I did everything she told me and it was the juiciest, most tender turkey I had ever tasted. It was a huge hit with my family and friends. And they've all asked for the recipe and now it's a huge with their family and friends!!!
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
Alobndigas, it's a Mexican Meatball Soup!! Again, this happened to me as a newlywed! My husband and I had invited another newlywed couple to dinner. And one of my husband's childhood favorites was Albondigas, I thought I'd not only impress him but also our guests. I had already asked my mother-in-law for the recipe, but none of the quantities were exact. (She's one of the lucky few who cook with out recipes!) So, I just put in the amount that I thought was correct! And everything was working out fine just until I got to the part where I needed to add water and chicken broth to make the soup. Well, I had used about 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef for the meatballs, placed them in my new 6 qt. stockpot and filled the pot two-thirds full with water and chicken broth. OOPS!!! I let them boil and simmer for the time alotted. When it came time to actually test for taste, I started with the meatballs. They were pretty darn good. But when I tasted the broth, it just tasted like water. I was devastated and heartbroken! And company was on it's way! I had absolutely no idea what to do! No matter how many cubes of chicken bouillon I added, the soup STILL tasted like water! My husband said that he'd just order pizza! Thankfully, our guests called and cancelled at the very last minute!!! I ended up throwing out the soup, saving the just the vegetable and meatballs. We ate the veggies that night and I reheated the meatballs with a jar of spaghetti sauce the next night and made meatball heros!!!
