My Greatest Cooking TriumphI often take ideas and concepts from dishes in the kitchen at my work, and find ways to make them my own. There is one dish in particular that I have perfected to the point my partner craves it and will not eat it at my restaurant anymore because it's not as good as mine. Anytime we are in conversation with friends and family, my partner always mentions this one dish that has become my cooking triumph.
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterFrom my greatest cooking triumph comes my biggest cooking disaster. While visiting family out of town, my partner insisted everyone get the chance to experience what has become the most favored dish in our triumph. The planets in the cooking universe were not aligned in my favor this particular evening. I don't know if it was the fact that I was cooking for six rather than two, as I am used to. Or the fact that I was not in my own home, in my daily cooking environment. Whatever the case may be, it was less than desirable. To top it all off, I forgot about the crostini toasting away in the oven and found a new recipe for hockey pucks the NHL would surely approve. Everyone sat around the table and, well, lets just say they were all very polite and did their best to pretend to enjoy their meal. What a disaster!
My Food For ThoughtOne thing all creatures on Earth have in common is the fact that we all enjoy eating. Rather than just eating to stay alive, we should eat to enjoy the food we're blessed to have. Nothing brings family and friends together like the creations made in the kitchen. When we find those special concoctions that make for great gatherings and memories....we should share those moments with everyone we can.
