My Greatest Cooking Triumph10-07-08: My greatest cooking triumph was when I prepared wild bear. I cooked it in the crock pot with veggies, butter, heavy cream and scotch whiskey. It was a huge hit. My cousin, Tony, killed the bear on a WV hunting trip and shared two roasts with me.
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterThere have been SO MANY disasters in my often-used and sometimes abused kitchen, lol. A couple years ago, I cooked a GOOSE for the first time. I designed my menu so that I could pull a one-liner joke on some friends. As they entered my home, I told them "your goose is cooked". Corny, I know, lol. As it happens, goose has so much fat, and some of it dripped into the oven. Of course, I cleaned it up, but.. must have missed some. A week or so later, as I was preparing something near the stove (oven on, something else baking), my oven door shot open and flames roared out. It was quick, but memorable. And thank heaven, it didn't hurt anyone or burn down my house! Since it was harmless, I love telling the story now... what an "exciting" moment, lol.
My Food For ThoughtRecently, got funny e-mail, the punch line of which is great: Live life like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and move on. I like that philosophy.
