About Me
No profile added.
I enjoy cooking from scratch, especially recipes with lots of fresh veggies and herbs. I enjoy shopping fresh markets, organic ingredients, wild game (most of my cousins hunt). I've dated the same man for nearly 20 years. We're not married, nor do we share a home. But I do care greatly for him, and he for me. I can't imagine being married, any more than I can imagine life without Bart. So we just keep doing what works for us, lol. In 2010, I must make a bigger effort to eat healthier. Otherwise, two MD's advised I am at risk for diabetes, which I certainly want to avoid! I have a younger brother, and he just became a grandpa on January 9. It's a bit surreal, lol. But Sophia (the granddaughter, my great-niece) is just beautiful. And although I won't meet her right away, I know that she'll be sweet as sugar!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
10-07-08: My greatest cooking triumph was when I prepared wild bear. I cooked it in the crock pot with veggies, butter, heavy cream and scotch whiskey. It was a huge hit. My cousin, Tony, killed the bear on a WV hunting trip and shared two roasts with me.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
There have been SO MANY disasters in my often-used and sometimes abused kitchen, lol. A couple years ago, I cooked a GOOSE for the first time. I designed my menu so that I could pull a one-liner joke on some friends. As they entered my home, I told them "your goose is cooked". Corny, I know, lol. As it happens, goose has so much fat, and some of it dripped into the oven. Of course, I cleaned it up, but.. must have missed some. A week or so later, as I was preparing something near the stove (oven on, something else baking), my oven door shot open and flames roared out. It was quick, but memorable. And thank heaven, it didn't hurt anyone or burn down my house! Since it was harmless, I love telling the story now... what an "exciting" moment, lol.
My Food For Thought
Recently, got funny e-mail, the punch line of which is great: Live life like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and move on. I like that philosophy.
