About Me
No profile added.
By the time I was 12 I was being asked to sale my from-scratch cakes. My Mother taught me how to bake, & my father taught me how to cook. Married for almost 24 years, 2 children--a 22 yo son & a 14 yo daughter I love spending time with. I worked as a licensed x-ray tech for 17 years until almost 10 years ago when health issues forced me to quit. In addition to having to give up work, I gave up riding my bike, hiking, flower gardening, entertaining friends & family, & my dream of one day opening a bakery. Now I'm trying to find a way to better health & to enjoy every moment I feel good by doing things with/for my family & friends & going to church. I'm also making renewed attempts on the piano, which bring joy to no one but myself!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
I've never entered a cooking/recipe contest though I've thought of it many times. Now it would have to be just a recipe contest since I cannot stand long enough to cook/bake for a competition. So I would have to say every time I've cooked or baked anything that wowed family and/or friends gave me a great sense of accomplishment & happiness.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
LOL! Where to begin?! When I was 9 I made my first attempt to make peanut butter cookies. For some insane reason I thought since peanut butter was not a liquid that I should sift it with the dry ingredients. Then the first time I used pepperoni that was not pre-sliced, I didn't know there was paper casing on it. I think I was 11, & I know we had company over. Since the mistake was discovered when we sat down to eat, it took a long time to live down. I could go on & on...but I'm not going to.
