My Greatest Cooking TriumphMy greatest cooking triumph as to be related to the first Thanksgiving my husband and I celebrated. He comes from a large family, so we had a guest list of 35. I was used to cooking for my family of 3 or 4 prior to this, but I managed to pull it off. I had a recipe for overnight turkey. The recipe warned that 1 hour before it was done, it would be very pale. It was. My husband panicked totally which caused me to panic, also. But I followed directions and it was perfect! Golden brown and beautiful. He paraded it all through the house showing it off to everyone.
My Biggest Kitchen DisasterMy first cooking failure after my marriage involved veal. My mother made a wonderful Veal Pocket recipe. Problem, I didn't know what cut of veal it used. Back in my old home town this was no problem. You told the butcher you wanted meat for a veal pocket and there you were. But here in Arizona, the butcher just looked at me. He sold me something but it was not the cut I needed and it turned out absolutely dreadful (although the stuffing was good -- we had to throw the meat out and just eat the stuffing that night!0
My Food For Thought"A simple and comforting prayer -- a simple affirmation of faith:"
All shall be well,
And all shall be well,
And all manner of things shall be well.

Attributed to Dame Julian of Norwich, a 13th century English mystic and quoted by Sarah Ban Breathnaugh.
