I live in Cambridge, MA, but I am originally from Indiana. I am a novice chef, and I am trying to improve my skills. My Mom is such a great cook, so I aspire to be like her! I am mostly a vegetarian just because I've never really liked meat much, and my boyfriend doesn't eat any meat besides fish. So I look for meatless recipes, or recipes where I can use soy ground "beef" or tofu instead of meat.
It's not worth getting into, but let's just say that it involved trying to make spaghetti a la carbonara with a slew of substitutes--fake eggs, soy bacon, fake butter, and skim milk. Lesson: Consuming a few extra calories costs less than a wasted box of soy bacon.
