My Biggest Kitchen DisasterWhen my husband and I were first married (54 years ago) I wanted to make us some chile. My mother always said it was too hard and Loran's mom always used canned kidney beans. So I was going to make the real deal. It cooked most of the day, smelled delicious but right before dinner I decided to taste one more time for adjustments. It needed a little more chili so I grabbed the can and really shook it, gave the chili a short stir and smelled a horrible smell. I had grabbed the can of nutmeg. My husband always, to this day, reminds me to make sure I have the chile powder. We had tuna sandwiches for supper.
