I pretty much grew up in the bush in Alaska, started cooking & baking when I was about 9 or 10 yrs old. It wasn't long before cooking became one of my 'chores'. i had to make bread every week. I didn't like that much I wanted to make the fun stuff like cookies and cakes. Then when I was a teenager it was my job to make dinner. Always the same thing my dad wanted, meat, potatoes, gravy and some kind of veg. In spite of the monotiny of sameness! later in life i learned much about cooking and am quite good at it, now my kids are grown and I miss cooking for a crowd.
teaching my kids to cook. my daughter is quite the good cook, she has made it the fine point of her career.
I made cookies for a bake sale at school and forgot the baking soda, my cookies were hard little rocks that nobody wanted!
nothing is like a good homecooked meal. I love making people happy with good food they won't soon forget.
