About Me
No profile added.
I am sort of newly married (two years and counting!) and we're on our own unless you count the dog. I "container garden" on my deck, growing herbs and several varieties of peppers + I received some heirloom rhubarb plants from my mom this past spring. I have a wilting green thumb because I can never remember to water things! I've always been a dabbler in the kitchen, thanks to a patient (and adventurous) mother. I enjoy cooking for crowds and entertaining; I like trying out new recipes on my husband but I'm terrible at gauging his response... *Grin* I subscribe to Taste of Home and Healthy Cooking, and have been to two TOH Cooking Schools. I love recognizing repeat contributors and am grateful for their willingness to share great family recipes!
My Greatest Cooking Triumph
Overcoming my fear of matches so I could light the grill on my own! I used to only use the LONG fireplace matches, and even then, I would light them while wearing oven mitts.
My Biggest Kitchen Disaster
Pulling chocolate chip cookies out of the oven only to have the baking sheet come out "empty" while the cookies fell down onto the oven element. Using a springform pan to bake a chocolate cake --- the batter seeped out the bottom and caused quite a mess! Ah, and the infamous anniversary cake for my parents when I was in junior high. I hate doing dishes, so to cut back I poured a two-layer cake's worth of batter into an 8-inch x 1 1/2-inch cake pan. It all fit...until the cake started to rise. *Grin*
